not done much recently / holidays / saving / buying stuff
got chance to throw a seat in the other day , and good to see it fits and clears door posts etc ! :
got some 2mm thick inner sills bent up , (upside down in pic)
so need to work out seatbelt point and get this cut/fitted
and also quickly cut up dash bar to re-fit :
I have ordered up some roll cage parts , its a custom mk1 escort , but flat pack , and the legs have been lengthened ( just in case to i need extra length to reach subaru floor )
that should arrive next week.
welding a friends mini is getting in way

ok got the passenger inner sill cut and tacked in ,these are made from 2mm metal :
created a new seatbelt point on sill aswell
got my child to help clean the inside out a bit , :
i did start on the drivers side inner sill, but got bored and wanted to see if the rear seats fit , they do ! :
hope cage turns up this week , and have Wednesday planned off work , car is coming home soon !

ok , had day off work yesterday ,
made the decision to move the escort body 2 inchs forward ! , this would then give me room for a rad , but also make allot more other things line up , my only worry ( and still is ) is if i can make the front arches work :
but , look i have room for a rad and fan !! :
rear arches arnt a problem , as you can easily adjust position :
so i bit the bullet and fully welded the new 2mm thick inner sills , and started plating car up :
no going back now , will have to make front arches work
connected up fuel lines , bled brakes , and popped a drivers seat in ...
then was rude not to see if it moved !

its coming home next week ! will be able to do lots more on it !

ok first few days at home , first thing first , was to fix the clips on the end of the battery charger , been annoying me for years , and had some ready off a broken charger :
now , onto the roll cage ,
started by hole sawing some holes for the legs to drop into / through the floor

trial fit of main hoop
then did the same for the front legs
just incase no one knows , these holes will allow me to drop the cage inside the car for welding , then i will cover the holes with 3mm spreader plates.
never done this method before, but seen it on the internet
working on front bar angle to windscren pillar etc
mark twice , cut once
well actually i had to cut again after this .. but better to long then to short
some spreader plates for rear hoop
dont have any fancy tube notcher/cutter ... or space to setup pillar drill with hole saw , so i go old school and grind by hand
passenger side ready for tack , not sure to MIG or TIG at the moment.
need to do drivers side now , then i can work on front roof bar.
and just a quick shot of what i am thinking for rear bars
