ok , fathers day ... started off by moving front arches back a bit ,

i am happy with position now , can allways tweak later.. and dont forget car has to be lower yet

stuck some duck tape over holes :

did both sides , then turned front end over

and it was raining! so had to do it all inside ,

quick shot of rad setup :

fibre glassed both arches on , :

put front end back on car , then removed tape

then slapped some filler on !

gave both sides a quick sand

then took it for a sneaky drive !!!!

      wow its quick !!!

Coming along nicely, deffo sounds spot on. What colour are you going to paint it ?

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

green , with Orange roof , and maybe orange mexico stripes .

it used to be my dads team colours in the 60's ( he had a mini , and his friend had a mk1 escort )

                Team Orchard they called themselfs...
but he cant remember if his friends escort had orange stripes or not and he has lost his friends contact details ( gone to states )

                  • ok got bored / not much progress in the last few days , coming off the high of driving it tried working on wiper motor setup but getting nowhere slowley ...

so turned my attention to back seat area ,

cut 4 inchs off the bottom of the subaru back seat foam , after picking /cutting all the clips off.

                    fits allot better now :

                    back sits nice

then cut out the wire frame from cut off foam bit, need to weld this back onto the seat so it can mount

                      • ok , put a new rear seat stiffener in , 25x25x3 box , should do ok

jumped to front of car for a second ,and just tacked a bit of metal on

back to rear of car , finished welding up struts / body shell , etch primed and seam sealed.

quick photo of my cut down seat ... might need tweaking . will see once its in

welded in cage stiffeners to body ,

etch primed and satin black .. done

thanks to my friend xxx for sending them to me ,

not in photos is all the rear seatbelt points are in and welded.
Just doing front ones now and the rear should be done. ( apart from fuel filler neck)

Just waiting for local metal shop to bend me up some angle to help me with dash rail and front wing supports

                        • rear seatbelts fitted ,

got rear seats fitted , could do with a little adjustment later , but fine for now

had to do a little repair on rear window

started popping windows in just to see what i had

only got one side window seal , and its shot .. so will need to order a new pair

quick test fit of a child

tried putting rear window in , but failed and stopped , must look up method

front seat belts all done and mounted as well .. hopfully push on with front end in the next week

rear is nearly done , ran wires properly to back , so just the fuel filler neck to sort now.

                          • new boot seal arrived , should stop it bouncing around when i am driving and knocking about

bought some audi TT bonnet hinges off ebay , hoping to re-use them instead of the old escort ones .. we shall see ...

also got rear screen in ,

rubbers a bit knackered , but will do for now.

only tacked in , and needs some tweaks yet , wont know if struts are strong enough to hold bonnet up until i get other side done and bonnet on ! LOL
