  • Hard finding the time to work on the car these days but just managed to put in quite afew hours whilst I'm off work for Christmas.
I cut out the seat mountings and four link boxes because both are ugly looking things.
First job was to add metal due to the cutting out being oversize for the new 2piece boxes then welding in the new box. This has been the most difficult job yet and only just started on the other side as I have to completly fill in the cut out and start from fresh.

        • Haven't had a chance to work on the Escort since Christmas, due to working in Ireland for most of January. Had a go at it today and finished off the blanking plates for the rear dampers, now working on some templates to fabricate the skid plates for the 4 link boxes.

                    • Welded in the crossmember fixing tubes to replace the existing standard chassis nuts which are a weak point. RIX crossmember is going to be fitted at a later date. I've run out of parts to fit so a trip down to Rallyweld is on the cards to pick up more bits.

                      • I called into Rally Weld in Pontypool and bought a few of his fabricated body shell parts, must say really good quality and cheaper than anything I've seen on the Internet. After talking to Sean, the owner, I found out that some of the parts I've already fitted were made by him but I paid more for them from other suppliers, even saved on postage. He was very helpful and took time to show me some of his on going projects and gave me loads of advice about my build, just wish I'd found him earlier.

First parts to fit were the front skid plates.
