Bit more done yesterday and today. Welding is shocking but penetration is good enough so flap disc taking a bollocking!!!!! most welds are on seams so seam sealer will hide most of it.

Looking really good there mate, coming on very well.
As said you will get the hang of the mig, great bit of kit. Secret is to keep the metal nice n clean take your time and even practice a few runs on a bit of metal before you do it on the car.

Awesome job so far though, keep up the good work

That is looking really good, wish I had the skill to do it. Not much yellow left now, what was the original colour 'cos I'd be tempted to pait it that?

Some very nice work there, is that a "Butters" mig?
Where I worked once, they had purchased a refurbished BOC welder that was actually made by Butters; that was a great welder, miles better than the other Migatronic welder.

Thanks for comments, the original colour was Yellow but I do like White on a rally Mk2, and it's the only colour I can spray!!!!!!

That's what I thought, but I've used the photos and info from similar posts and just gave it a go. I do have an engineering background but all this type of work is first time for me.

Yes it is a Butters UK mig. I did a huge amount of research to buy the best mig welder in my budget range and this won hands down. All the internals are either German, Swiss or Italian and are of very good quality. I wont be doing a great amount of welding after this project so I wanted a welder that is going to last me a life time.

Yep, you can't beat them in my experience, I suspect you can pick up "OK" migs relatively cheap nowadays, but I think you'd very hard pressed to better that machine for the money.

You seem to be making pretty good use of it too!
These old Escorts really do love the tin worm, you need a lot of patience, and nerve, to own a rusty one.

Good luck to you sir, and keep plugging away at it...
