Hi Kev,.

You most likely never saw me post on here before,. been an avid lurker for a couple of years, absolutley gutted for you,.
I have a Mexico project myself, and this was the one car I wanted to see in 'the flesh' so to speak, I read your old 'refresher' threads and always had the idea would look similar to yours once finished.
You seem to come from relatively the same neck as the woods as me and I had hoped to see the car at this years show at Southwell racecourse or some other local show (I have always missed it when you have shown the Mex there )

As others have said,.. gutted for you,. and gutted i never saw it

Hi there Jon, It was supposed to be shown this year at Wonderland show (I was going for my hat trick of wins). I will still be there though but only as a Judge this time.

Yes, That Yellow Mexico was mine at Newark College. Seems so long ago now..........That was rolled on the way back from Nottingham one night. (Another one I was lucky to escape from......)

Just got back from our holiday in the lakes, and have just seen this thread. i can honestly say Kev yours was my favorite mk2 on the scene.
After not owning a mk2 for over 12 years, we went to central day about 3 years ago and seeing yours i knew i had to find another mex.
Feel gutted for you, but glad you go out in the nick of time.

Have heard something from the Insurers this morning. The car has been given a Category A total loss which means it cannot be saved and is for disposal only.
I am glad about this TBH but would have liked to have salvaged the engine internals, Gearbox internals & the LSD.

That seems so wrong when there are some parts left which are least affected by fire that are still likely to be serviceable. Anyway I'm glad it's gone the way you want it, Kev!

I will ring the insurers just to make sure that nothing can be salvaged. If it can, then I will remove anything left of use (Not much ) Otherwise, if not, I want to watch it crushed complete so that no unscrupulous scrote can remove anything if I can't!
