The car is a Cat A therefore Nothing can be salvaged from the car by myself or anyone else. I just hammered it to try & stop people from pestering.
Don't take no notice of insurance company scum , it's your car so you could have took the bits off and pretended they had melted , lol .

I see a spring. Watched the nearside completely collapse when the car was dragged onto the recovery truck Think the casing's are left in the car somewhere
What can I say - I had a fuel fire on a Mk1 years ago that could, so easily, have gone this way. Totally, totally devastating and I feel so sorry for you.

Absolutley Tragic, glad you're ok though and like you mentioned, I'm just glad your family weren't in the car at the time. I feel so sorry for you.

Just wondered how you have got on with the insurance claim.Has it been settled to your satisfaction?
Cheque finally arrived this morning for the agreed value. I can now hopefully put this dreadful experience behind me now and think about what to replace the car with. As said, many, many thanks to all of you for your fantastic support over the past 6 weeks.
