Kevin, I have never met you or seen your car in the flesh but from the pictures I have seen it looked a truly stunning car. What you have been through is everyone's worst nightmare and I do really feel for you at this time.
I picked my RS up from the bodyshop on Wednesday after a multi-thousand pound restoration and the pictures of yours scared me sh*tless. So I have decided to fit a plumbed in fire-eater system so at least I may have a chance of saving it if the worst happens. It may not look pretty but that is a price I am prepared to pay. I have owned mine from new and to loose it like that would be devastating as you have found out.
All I would say is when the insurance is sorted out buy another and make it even better than the "red shed" as a tribute to a great car.
Regards
Phil.
Kev,
I have heard about your loss but not seen the photos till now. I am so gutted for you matey. What a fooooking mess. Have you any ideas what caused it. GUTTED MATE
Thats real bad luck but the main thing is you are OK.
Probably caused by a fuel line coming off one of the carbs and I doubt if one of your extinguishers would have put that out as the modern ones are full of "environmentally friendly" stuff that struggles to put out a match.
