The outer of the 3 'A' post parts is now fully welded into position, and i have put some galvafroid paint on it until im ready to paint it properly, the centre thicker section although looking sad for itself was in suprisingly good condition, the same cannot be said for the O/S one which has rotted straight through. The inner part where the door hinge bolts are accessed from will need replacing as the bottom of that has disappeared in a bath of rust
The chassis with the rotten section cut off ready for my new home made piece to be welded in
Looking better with the new piece welded in, I did a few other small bits at the same time leaving just a few more to sort before the floor goes in

No mate not done any more on it as yet, been busy trying to get my garage sorted so i can put it in there to continue working on it, I cant wait to get back at it, thats my incentive to get the garage done.
Also a mate is interested in the car and wants to know if i will make it into a Sport replica, so I am presently having a good think about it. I already have spare qtr bumpers, overriders, original boot spoiler, the sport steel wheels, centre console and clocks so it would really be the seats that are going to be the hardest thing to source unless anyone knows where there is a set, and a 3 spoke steering wheel. Colour could end up being Signal Orange.

Got my hands on this 1600 711M engine today, its been stood some years in the back of a mates garage, but turns over nicely.
I took the rocker cover off to get this little pic, showing steel rocker posts, be interesting to see what size the pistons are and what cam it has, also looks like the inlet ports have had some work done on them, plus has anyone seen a sump like this one before ?

Little update......I took the head off the engine today, I couldnt wait to see what I actually picked up yesterday, so far what I have found is the pistons are +0.090, it has a BCF2 cam fitted. The inlet valves are approx 40.5mm and the exhaust are about 34mm, and it looks like its had some porting done. The bores are really good without any scores or lips, ive not checked to see what is under the timing cover as yet and not taken the sump off yet either. But so far im a happy bunny

True Jon and im going to give it a good check over before doing anything with it.
I like your style gary that would leave just the seats to find, either the blue or orange piped ones i reckon.
Im hoping to get a skip one day this week and once I have moved all the bricks then Kermit can go inside at last
You can see some of the bricks here waiting to go in the skip
and my spit is sat here waiting for kermit
