    • Your getting far too good at this Jon, great work again as usual.

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

      • Cheers for the comment Tony it's good for motivation! As mentioned before tho it's a bit of a viscious cycle, as my skills improve there more bits I look at and think "that could be better" so I need to find a happy medium or il be going around it forever lol. Any more done on kermit?

        • Actually mate yes, I have taken the grille and wipers off, the headlamps and windscreen are now out, front bumper and indicators are also off, found a bit of rot under the bottom of the windscreen rubber, so some plating to do there, I will put some pics up on kermits thread tomorrow

          • just a small update not got that many pics tho as the phone i have doesnt have a great camera. Managed to get all the front end including bulkhead finished to a standard im happy with, i also knocked these up this morning

Put some spot welds on them to try and get a more original look on them but think il need to change the tips on the spotter as these look a bit small. Just need to find out the correct size of the digits for the chassis number now before i fit the drivers side one as i dont want to have a car with no number on the strut top.

Next i decided to finish off the inside floor area and underneath floor area. First job was to make a new top plate for the tunnel as mine had been butchered really bad, borrowed one off a friend to copy off, turned out quite well in my opinion

Just need to increase the flair on the top a touch more then trim down and fit. Once thats done i need to make a little piece up for behind the inner sill area/under back seat on drivers side then its pretty much just the bootfloor and rear panel to sort out..........there is a tiny glimmer of light at the end of the welding tunnel lol

            • Got cracked on today and got some more done on the car, managed to finish and fit the gearstick top plate

Made a repair section up for the under rear seat area as it looked a bit thin after i removed all the underseal a few weeks ago, still needs more cleaning up here.

Then i found some mk1 strengthener thingys i had so cut then down same as mk2 ones and fitted instead of the ones i had, my origionals wernt very clever.

So once all that was done i needed to make a start trying to rescue this bootfloor as i missed the one escort tec had
So cleaned a load of gas weld off and dollied floor back into shape

THis areas pretty good now so il weld the holes up and then move onto the next bad section tomorrow

You wont be for long, i want to get all the welding finished before the new house comes, my plans were to buy a new rear panel, blast it and etch prime it and then get on with the house but the bank has kindly relieved me of my entire last savings and left me with about 50p lol. My van also needs taxing tomorrow so dreams of finishing the welding work before the house comes along are probably never going to happen so that gives you loads of time to catch up and overtake me lol! IM just going to have to start and find jobs that need doing on the car that dont involve spending money............................................. .................................................. ..........Cant think of any at the mo

                    • decided to give up on the bootfloor as i dont think il be happy with the one ive got even if i do repair it! So got on and done some more repairs here and there.
Firstly got rid of this grot

Made a couple of repair sections up like this

                      Then fitted

                      And the other one

Then had a good tidy up and cleaned the car out to make me feel better, also a couple of random ones with wings sat on to make me feel like im getting some where

                      • Little bit more done today, made some chassis gussets up for the front and fitted them up.

Quite happy with those, then decided to blast the doors which appeared to be pretty mint before blasting but guess someone had already been busy with the filler! Ones really good but the others not brilliant and needs a repair to the underside

Blasted and etch primed, the bad bits

The skins are still really good so hopefully il be able to tease the bottom lip back to let some new steel in.

                            • todays hard work, took a long time to make the tooling to put the pressing in but got there in the end!

Pretty happy with these and they are made from 1.5mm steel (thicker than the chassis legs lol)
Hopefully found a bootfloor so can get cracked on again and get the welding finished.
