            • Got sick of housework tonight so had a couple of hours on the car so chopped the old bootfloor out, took some measurements first and welded a brace across the end of the legs. Managed to get everything set up to weld the new bootfloor in place. Have some pics on phone but have no Internet connection in the house yet to upload them. Hopefully more updates soon. If any mods can help with uploading my pics I can email them. Thanks Jon

                • Spent an hour bare metalling the bootfloor so it can have a light shot blast before fitting

Going to finish bare metalling all the inside of the quarters and underneath the parcel shelf before fitting, hopefully get a day on it over the weekend

                  • Just going through this excellent thread and read the comment below (probably again) re seam welding.

I'm pretty sure the MOT rules say that as the car has unitary construction, i.e. body = chassis, all panels that are attached (excluding the front wings) and repairs to them must be either welded as at the factory, i.e. whole panels spot welded in, or, panel sections or patches must be mig welded in place with a continuous seam of weld (no-gaps).
You are not permitted to use oxy-acetyline etc as this weakens the steel, because too much heat is applied. That is most certainly what I learnt at technical college nearly 25 years ago now...

                    • It's on the list of things to do once its back on the spit before the shell gets blasted. Thanks for the info.

                      • Didn't get the bootfloor or the rear panel back from the boasters this weekend so made some more progress getting rid of the rest of the yellow dulux. Stripped inside of rear quarters and under parcel shelf. Decided to blend in the arch repairs on the insides of the quarters with this green fine fibre glass filler it's really good and sands down just like normal filler

Them spent a couple of hours bare metalling the quarters and the roof with 80 grit on the DA and gave them a coat of etch as I didn't want to blast them

                        And the top side

This actually feels like good progress even tho there's no filler work done 3 Area off the shell ticked off the list

                          • Looking good Jon, keep it up mate, and I agree it gives you inspiration once some paint starts going on

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

                            • Got the bootfloor and rear panel back from the blasters this evening. Managed to get a coat of etch on them and tach the bootfloor in position ready to fully weld hopefully fri night/Saturday. Rear panel sat in position to check everything fit ok.

With a bit of luck that should be the bare shell all welded up for the weekend then blasted and etch primes in the next couple of weeks if funds allow, il be glad when it's done then its just outer panels to work on, one door nearly done and the other to do. Might even be ready for next winter lol
