I`m convinced its not the timimg Mike. A new belt was fitted just before i got it and she was running sweet. I`ve ordered a new dizzy cap , rotor , points and condenser so will replace all that first. Probably get a new coil aswell just to make sure. I could go down the elec ignition route but i want to keep it as it is and stay traditional

Changed the points and condenser today but still no joy. I`ve taken off the coil off and it doesn`t look yo hot so once the new comes that will go on next
. Process of elimination i suppose
O and the water pump has now developed a leak

The joys

.
Took out all the plugs to check they weren`t petrol soaked but they were fine. however tried it again but no go . So gave up in disgust and cleaned the missus turbo instead
Might need a bottle of this

Busy day today in the garage . Postie delivered my new rear dampers so spent some time fitting them. Got the spare wheel and jack etc all tidied up and fitted in the boot so thats all that out the way.
Got back to trying to get the car started, double checked the points and plug gaps , checked for spark and have plenty and also fuel . However realised that i had the firing order of the plug leads on the dizzy cap wrong

Got then sorted and turned the engine over , she sounded a lot better and started to cough and splutter but again she just refuses to fire
.
Jist don`t know what it could be and its doing my head in

Some pics of the dampers

Well at long last ITS ALIVE

Finally got it going , turns out the carbs were airlocked so after a good bit of faffing about she finally rumbled onto life
Left it running for 10 mins and it sat idling away sweet and not a leak in sight so well chuffed.
However the ring between the exhaust system and manifold has gone
Need a new one.
Almost there
