              • Small update , no I haven't sold it , making a start on this

                Block is a 3.9 , new pistons and bearings obviously, heads are Rover Developments stage 2 ported and polished, cam is standard 3.9 at present but taking advice on this.

                Because this engine design was developed over so many years and used in so many different configurations its a minefield when ordering parts.

                Have a list of goodies I want but the price

                Anyway, off to read my 'How to build a V8' manual .....

                  • Its been a while since I updated this thread.

                    I have been busy surfing Ebay USA for new old stock genuine TR8 parts recently, some nice stuff still available and I am sure the over all finish of the car will be better for using new genuine parts where possible.

                    I also found a place locally that carries out plastic media blasting of the type used on aeroplane fuselages etc, therefore no heat build up and no rippling of panels.

                    I first sacrificied one of two boot lids I had to 'test' the company out. I was pleased with the results but it was relatively expensive, they blast and etch prime before collection.

                    I therefore made the decision to have the two brand new doors done (as the primer was 30 years old) and also a double bulge bonnet. Again very pleased with the result so .........in the next month or so the full shell, with the exception of the underside, will be done to remove all traces of old primer etc, this is going to be expensive
