that said TR's are on the up pricewise, if it continues, in about 30 years I may break even on mine
Anyway, todays job was the front hubs, I had them bead blasted, then etched and painted silver/grey, merely for a contrast to the black struts.
These hubs are modified from TR spec, the round 1"ish thick piece in the photo with the four cap head screws in is an adaptor piece that fastens to the TR wheel flange and allows the fitting of Capri 2.8 or GP1 Escort vented discs.
And with the disc fitted
The strut tubes have been blasted and powder coated, Gaz top adjustable inserts, 200lb - 1" springs, between the top spring cup and the top mount I have modded to a needle bearing set up to lighten the steering, standard is just a metal to metal washer set up.
And the assembled item, as you can see unlike the Escort, the dust shield clears the vents, wonder if the TR dust shield would fit an Escort
Next pension day I will buy a pair of new 2.8i calipers which fit directly to the TR strut, I have Goodridge hoses on stock.
I have also pulled the back axle apart, the casing is going to be blasted next week, yesterday I put new bearings onto the halfshafts so they are ready to go back in, however considering looking into a rear disc brake set up ...
Cheers, Paul
PS .......... its staying green
or red .........sigpic

Top job you are doing there. I had a TR7 V8 a few years back with a very healthy engine running a Holley etc. I sold it to a mate who still has it and is slowly doing it up again and another mate also has a V8 one. They are a nice car once they have a proper engine!

As you will have read in my other posts elsewhere today the blaster was on site, although this is a new shell it is still 30 years old, dry stored yes but there was no way I was putting fresh pent over old primer and underseal, so off it came , well on the underside, topside will be DA'd to bare metal. I also had the blaster go around all the seams and panel joins in the known weak areas on TR shells, these can then have modern seam sealer applied safe in the knowledge that theres nothing creeping through, then 5 hours cleaning the media out of every nook and cranny
Then put it back in stock room
cheers, son
