        lol , ear muffs are the way forward more like !!!!!!
        I used to smash the alternator casings at the top but got a Gartrac nylon tension arm and that cured that problem . Now it's the 8500rpm gear changes that kills them and they just stop working after a few miles . The new bigger pulley should slow the alternator down now so they should last a few years (pray)

              The only problem Gaz, is that if you do end up doing a track day it'll probably fail the sound check the way things are going as all circuits are put under more pressure to reduce noise - load of crap

              • Well if it did pass a noise test then there's hope for everyone . No chance if the truth be told , the trumpets are 200 decibels without the exhausts 200 mixed in . Concords quieter !!!!!!

                  • I've had a slight problem getting the rings to seal properly since the last alternator broke . On a fuel injected car if the alternator fails the voltage dropping from the normal 13.8volts down to below 12volts causes massive overfuelling and eventual bore wash . I drove mine over 100miles with it misfiring and overfueling like fooook last month as the RAC refused to tow me home from the M1 as the car's modified (tossers) . Anyway i've stripped the engine and found this so i will be getting the bores re-honed this week and fitting it all back together ready for next weekend .

                      • Ha Ha FPMSL , that's a great idea . . All my cars are always modified and it's the 1st time i've been refused a tow home by them in 15 years . Think i just got a jobsworth patrol man on his way home after a long shift or something . I'm blamming him though for my polished up bores .

                        • Anyway i've shown the engine to the engine man and he reckons it's alright and not fully run in yet . So putting it back in the car ASAP and then getting the external oil pump checked out as it may not be sucking enough oil out the engine at high RPM . So the RAC man is off the hook again

                          • Engine is back in again so i now need a £150 head gasket and a £400 dry sump oil pump .
