            Cheers Andy , if you want to know anything then just ask cos i'm not a moody secret squirrel who's worried about giving trade secrets away !!!!!! . Plus all of us had to find out things by asking others so don't be shy . Besides an engines an engine so they're all the same (except 2 strokes and rotary's) .

                  I braved the sub zero temps down the garage today and stripped the bottom end . It all looks fine except no1 big end bearing is fooooooked which indicates a problem somewhere . The steel crank . H-section steel rods + forged pistons are all perfect so fingers crossed that this will be only a £500 re-build . I'll put some pics up later on

                      Thanks joe . Here's the bottom end before final strip down . It's full of mayonassie where the oil + water have mixed .

                        The steel crank , H-secton steel rods and 12:1 forged pistons all look ok though despite the oil turning too shit . The conrods have turned a different colour at the crankshft ends due to heat . I'm not sure if this is normal or because the oil went to shit but will find out when the engine man gets it . Here's some pics , the shells were proper fooooked in conrod no1 but fine in the other 3 so this idicates some sort of problem .

                          Here's a look at the Escort cosworth under piston oil spray jets . These need the 205 block machined out so they fit . They spray a jet of oil under the piston crown and improve reliabilty .
                          This is looking in from the sump end .

                          Here's a pic from the cylinderhead side looking down the bore . the oil jet can be seen at the 8 o'clock position .

                            Thread update then . The new 205 block is ready to go to Julian Godfrey's place for machining on Monday (block decked , oil spray jets fitted , rebore , chemical clean etc ) . The crank , rods and pistons are all being checked and measured so i'll find out soon if they foooooked or not !!! .
                            The engine builder is confident it will now go faster than before , so the turbos better watch out !!!!! .
