I'm happy to answer any questions and won't go all secret squirrel on you so feel to ask anything and i'll do my best to help .

Firstly the powers in the head . It's common knowledge that H.T. Racing in Brands Hatch are the UK's No1 Atmo YB tuner . However it's also common knowledge that it take years to get anything done by them !!!!!!!! Lucky Steve Curson from Vulcan engineering is a neighbour of mine and himself and Arron at H.T.'s are now in buisness together with a rolling road etc .
So i got Steve to take my cylinder head away and redo it at H.T's for me . He's ported the inlets out to 27.5mm from it's previous 24mm , port matched the inlet manifold to suit , replaced 16x valves (8 were bent) , replaced 16x valve guides and welded and refaced the head face where the water ways were corroded . Here's some pics .

          You power junkie you
Any idea what caused the cracking?, could it have been connected with the vibrations you was getting or was that sorted?
          Good artical by the way

Since then the heads now had new Isky double valve springs , spring platforms machined down to suit , the solid lifter shims re-done and the valve guides have been cut down flush . I was going to get the big valves but it's not really needed on a 2 litre plus it already went like fooook with the small 24mm ports and 8x bent valves !!!!!!!!
I'm also sticking with my original full race BD4 and W14 cam combo as it drives perfect , sounds lush and flys

Hi mate . The blocks bored out and done a few seasons in the Ford saloon car championship before i bought it so it's had a hard life . I think that's all it was really as the previous owner has just stripped his new £10,000+ zetec race motor down and that's also cracked in the bores as well . It must be his driving !!!!!!!

I started stripping the bottom end today and will take some pics tomorrow . Where the blocks cracked all the water and oil mixed and made a right old mess of my dry-sump oil system . There's thick mayonaise blocking all the pipes , coolers , breathers etc etc so i hope it's not ruined the crank and rods with any oil blockages etc . Hopefully they're ok and can be re-used again but we'll see . As my engine is high compression the new 205 pinto block will be an exact copy of the old one (bore size , deck height etc) . The pistons stick out of the block and just miss the valves so any fooook ups will prove costly . I also have escort cosworth oil spray jets machined into the 205 block too cool the undersides of the piston crowns . This also helps lubricate the gudgeon pin areas as this can be a problem area with premature wear . Some tuners drill a hole in the con rod for this but the oil spray jets are better .

Yes they are a brilliant easy conversion for an old Escort for sure . They look great in the bay and sound awesome as well . Mine went like hell before the strip down so i should imagine it will be faster when it's re-done so i can't wait too find out . My car weighs a ton and has skinney 175mm tyres on it yet it is still rapid . My mates M3 got it's arsed served up down the bypass when it was first on the road last year . I pulled about 10 car lengths on it after only 3 gears and he thought his clutch was slipping !!!!!!!!!
