its been a while so time for an update!!!
few more bits n pieces done this year:
finally got the cage all finished and bolted in, made new brackets to join to the a post and another brace on the roof line, still undecided whether to add another brace to rear hope to make a cross, but i'm defo gonna weld in a bar between the rear turrets just waiting for some tubing to arrive.
cage is in solid so it'll stiffen the shell up when i get the car on a jig to turn it on its side, hopefully this week!
got the both rear arches cut back and welded just need some more welding when its flipped sideways got not room to do it as it is.
seat rails are welded in cant weld the brackets with the captive nuts on until have my buckets which won't be for a while yet.
o/s sill is welded in just needs some fibreglass and filling to make good.
got graham b's (zetecinside.com) escort mk2 pedal box that needs final fitting and the bulkhead is all sorted then.
biggest job done this year so far is the new dashboard, wanted something a bit different, not see it done on a mark 1 fes before, but i've got hold of a mark 2 escort dash and fitted that, got to get the heater box to work with the escort sliders / cables and also get teh pipes to connect up!
as a result of fitting the dash teh mark 1 steering column won't fit so i'm on the hunt for a corsa b electric steering column and make that fit
my goal for this week is to get the car 'sideways' lol got to crack on and get the underneath all stripped and sorted once thats done i can go full steam ahead on getting the car prepped and painted.
also removed the headling today - i took the old beige one of and underneath the brown insulation thats glued to the roof was all burnt in the middle, very strange no idea how it was done as tge headling was original, must have been burnt at the factory - who know?????
pics below - enjoy

Sideways Skater
My fes is now sideways lol,
bit un nerving for the first time rolling it over, but once it was vertical it was nice and sturdy, got the hard job now of removing all the underseal and dirt and repair patches that i'd welded from on the inside, did two hours on it tonight and got half the floor sorted should have it all off over the weekend.
