Not much to show for two weeks graft, been working hard on getting the front end / engine bay ready to be painted, got a mate whos gonna spray the front end in spray filler for me the week after next so been working all the hours to get the front sorted.
got my front panel finished, i wanted it to look like a rally mk1 escort where they have 5 holes at the front for more aiflow i've just gone one better and added 6 holes  had to make the front panel smooth before i could drill the holes, turned out better than i thought
got hold of some fibreglass mk2 escort front quarter bumpers and mk1 xr2 indicators to finish of the front just need some brackets to bolt them to the wing / front panel.
engine bay is nearly there, blended in the water pump recess and five speed hole, also smoothed the front slam panel so its all one piece instead of three, been welding in plates to cover over any unwanted holes (wiring grommet, balance bar, washer tubing etc) got all the ribs smoothed of on top of the inner wings, welded on hooks to the inner arches so all the wiring can be run through so less clutter in the bay, gonna use either a pug rad or escort mk2 rad so no header tanks, only bottles in the bay will be for the clutch and brake bottles which i'm gonna mount where the bonnet catch used to be, washer bottle and pump is going under the dash
got to run seam sealer over all the stitch welds and seams and then etch prime any bare metal and it'll be sorted and ready for primer filler
just the both front in arches to stone chip, prime and thats the front end sorted, still got one sill left to fit mount the cage and then finish of the rear, hopefully gonna get all the bodywork sorted before the new year, fingers crossed

Been a month since i updated my thread, been busy getting the engine bay ready, only got the lower half by the steering rack to clean up and paint and the bay is ready for some filler primer.
spent a few hours one saturday morning getting the bonnet to hinge in the opposite direction using escort mk2 hinges, got it all working ok.... but wasn't fussed so ripped it all back out and just welded triangular plates in the corners instead  so i can just pin the fibreglass bonnet down.
got my bucket seat in to trial fit it it but they wouldnt fit mk2 subframes must be diifferent to mk1's only put it in temporarily to see where i can mount the door bars on the cage, once they're welding on i can start welding the strengthening plates for the cage.
also got the seat mounts all stitch welded and all the bung holes welded up, can't fill and smooth any of the welds on the bulkhead yet until i got the cage mounted i can then get the car on the spit and start stripping the floor of underseal, repair anything that needs doing under there and re underseal prime and paint, be glad to get the underside done the car should make much quicker progress then.
not long for chrimbo and i can have some more time on it.

Been busy the last two days getting all 6 plates welded in ready for the roll cage to be bolted in, not the best made cage (omp), not an easy fit the rear diagonals don't sit flush at the front edge couldn't pull it any further backwards so gonna have to just use a small strip of metal as a spacer under the front two bolts.
need to smooth of the welds on the plates and seam seal and that bits done, also got my door bars welded in, gonna be a knightmare climbing over them to get in may also get some more tubing and weld a strut brace in bewteen the rear turrets should give it more strength and i can use it for the harneseses also.
need to get the o/s sill sorted next just having trouble getting the correct sill, fitted the n/s sill fine it was a proper full sill, but the o/s isn't as sharp a profile and isn't a full length sill.... sent it back to beavers auto panels and they said thdre was nowt wrong with it :x , so just gonna have to live with it and go with the one i got.
just that sill and two patches in the boot to sort and i can finally get the car on a rollover jig to start stripping the underneath and smooth out any repairs ive done, eager to get some paint on it
