It was the thing to do with that type of thing once apon a time, a friend of mind had a 70's German VW bus on a Y plate come to think of it

It would have gained the Y plate coming back into the country in 1982/83.
I had a Mk1 RS2000 on a V plate that came into the UK from spain in 1978.
Now DVLA give you an age related plate.
If the car was originally registerd in the UK & you can prove what it's original reg number was DVLA will re issue the original number.
Or if you can prove when the car was built if it has never had a UK plate they will issue an age related number. Again you have to prove the vehicles age.Mark....

I've owned it for 17 years - its been off the road in dry storage for about the last 10 of those. Its probably going to be another year or two before I get the time and space to do anything with it though..

Anyway.... back to the rally car. I still don't have it back from getting the exhaust made, but Dave sent me these pictures tonight from when he sprayed the car a few weeks ago:
