looks nice, any reason why the arches were painted seperately ?
It should sit lower when finished... I hope...

Dave reckoned that in the unlikely event of me hitting the arches again it would be easier to repair if they were painted off the car.

      • Another quick update... The exhaust is finished.

This weekend I'm hoping to finish altering the bulkhead - the wiring loom hole comes out right behind where the airbox will go, so I'm going to make some more room there and move the hole for the wiring loom.

Its a collaboration between Dunnell Engines and a place called Competition Fabrications in Norfolk.

                  • Well I'm due an update...

I've sourced a radiator and have been busy making up the mounts to hold it, along with the fan. I wanted a radiator that would leave enough room to get plenty of air into the air box. I went for a Polo 1.8i rad in the end.

I made a tubular frame to hold the rad:

Enough room for an air intake:

Slight modification to the inner wing too:

I can now duct nicely into the airbox:

A few pics of the car now that it has the arches back on:

I've started putting the wiring loom back in. Next step is to tidy it up with loom tape:

This weekend I hope to finish prepping the engine bay for spraying. Then, once it is sprayed, the real engine can go in...

                        • (Sorry I've been so slack at updating... I've been very busy at work the last few weeks and just haven't found the time.)

I have been making some progress though

I collected the engine and gearbox again last week from Mr Dunnell. We've now got the flywheel/clutch/release bearing sorted:

Engine bay has been sprayed. You can see the new front engine beam we designed. This will hold the engine at the base of the dry sump:

So it was time to get it in:

Also collected the dry sump tank so I can work out what pipes and fittings I'll need for oil, fuel & brakes:

And now I'm continuing with the wiring:

Most of the engine connections are sorted now, I'm just altering the rest as required and then I'll set about it with the loom tape:

                          More updates soon hopefully!
