Seems these log books and the money they're worth is causing an awful lot of greed and envy. Appears certain people put their wallets before friendships over logbooks. FFS they're just cars. Personally i'd go without, rather than upset people who have bent over backwards for you and risk loosing good friends! What the **** is the point in owning something that causes so much resentment. Great , you turn up with your top of the range , restored mk2, walk around a show like **** of the yard, whilst everyone says to you're face what a nice car it is, then as they walk away under their breath, it's logbooked that you know! Buy a book, make it into a car ,enjoy it, thats fine. Problem is within 1 day of buying it, half the world knows what you have.
Anyway, back to the garage to play with my mk2 , it's gonna get a lot more abuse next year , it's a shabby old mk2 escort rs2000, i play with it , rag the arse of it and it's made me a awful lot of great friends. Love it

Says it all really - the friendship is not real if your mates get so uptight about what car you own. I can see where you are coming about envy but where does greed come into it?

Personal thing mate, greed was a factor in more than one case. Not actually anything to do with me but affected me and other people around me and was directly linked to log books !(amongst various other things) Needless to say that person is out of mine and others lives ! Their loss, not ours !

                        Totally agree too

there does seem to be a thing about slagging cars off that arn't "right" (had it with mine) yes if your saying its something its not then fair enough but if its your pride and joy wheather a reshell or logbooked who cares as long as you enjoy it

different if your trying to make money out of something that its not but then its still up to the buyer if he's done his homework and wants the car good luck to him

"Triggers broom" restos have been around since day 1 with all car makes not just Escorts . RS porsche's , lotus cortinas , lotus sunbeams etc etc are all prime candidates . Some rs1800's have had 3x reshells but provided they're done right then it's only a service part (bodyshell) . If a finished clean car's worth £40,000 then it will get reshelled if it's body's scrap and that's what happens . That's what happened when they was worth £10,000 so it will happen more often now .
I had a bda mk1 20 years ago and even then most had been reshelled !!! Mind you they rusted like **** so who can blame them .
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

Maybe i mis read the add but wasnt the seller being facicious/sarcastic saying its a 1.1 pop shell he's spent 5 years restoring - in other words that it is a genuine shell to the person that questioned its authentisity on E-Bay?

Says the winning bidder can check its authentisity prior to paying for it.

Agree its a lot for what it is but thats upto the buyer.

                              does anyone really care??

the new owner bought it for his price, and i personally hope they enjoy the purchase..

as ever with these things theres split decisions on values and 'log booking'
but how many of you would own a works car if you could- how many shells hae they had..

more and more people are beginning to leave there cars in the garage due to the bitching!!
