This is turning into another "ringing" debate.
Ford themselves were guilty of it.
If the guys got £21,000 to spend on it then I wish I had it on the bay!

So if anyone has there car stolen and broken up and re-registered using an log book "off eBay" its fine then!

To be honest I don't care, What has this decption got to do with flogging a car as something it's not. As said the selling point, i.e it's an early "Halewood build" car makes it even worse. Not one single bit of that car hs anything to do with the RS18 BBATxxxxxxx, only the surviving VIN plates, even if they exist???????????

I assume whoever paid that for the car went and see/inspect it? And surely anyone one interested in it would of spoken to Dave? When I had mine at that sort of money you do your home work so I would assume allmparties are happy with the sale. Unless you've owned the car from neAr new and ain't the 25th owner you will never fully know the history on escorts etc IMO.so many where nicked etc in the 80's.I've seen 2 escorts that I sold years ago that where totally ****ed when I got rid that are cleArly not the same vehicle that I sold.as said If both parties are happy then happy days. Unfortunatley if the reg number becomes public and they try to sell it in a few years time a shit storm will occur again this is all imo

so why doesn't the person who knows the reg and chassis no. post it? and save anyone in the future buying a re-shell .

anyone with the right mind would contact a club or organisation to find out about these cars, not only a RS1800, if someone has bought it not doing this then so be it, i dont feel putting the info on this site is going to stop the buying etc, this has proved it, If i did then all IDs etc would have to be added, like the works car section, but as a RSOC registrar i am abiding by their rules and data protection etc, and people who have phoned i have given them advice etc.

                    Don't import them, problem solved.

Again, it's usually the greedy importing them to make a "fast buck" anyway, I don't condone that either. In the same way people saw house buying as a "dead cert" to make money fast, this appeals to others in the same way, greed, plain and simple.

someone has done this with another rs marque and posted up details of cars alive, written off,stolen,re-shelled etc.only as good as the info sent to them or as good as their efforts at putting the info up correctly.not a 100% correct system either but maybe better than nothing.obviously not gained from owners info held by an organisation but freely offered. as i said on another thread on this car here ,someone wanting to get in on the historic rallying scene, could that be a cheap way to get an rs1800 ,when they are not about ? not sure how the rules work if wanting to run a bda engined car not being originally stated on the logbook. it,s a never ending debate and worth having.lots of people know about cars with all sorts of history, and some are happy to say nothing while watching others buy something they think is as described!

bringing back a rotten car is perfectly fine, it's called a resto.....

if i look at the fords i have restored then really the shell is always the worst bit and tbh a reshell aint out of order.

if i understand the ebay add the right way then thats exactly what that was, a rs1800 that was rotten needing total refurbishment and possibly a new shell.

unless it wants to participate in pauls new unrestored class i cant see a problem.

To think that just over 3 years ago you wouldn't have paid much more for a complete RS1800 ready to drive
                          Cheers
