Just drive it mate & get your entry in for lakes tour next year. I couldn't bear to have such an enjoyable car to drive and not just get it out of the garage for a spin when I felt like it!
As you know I went to National Day @ Rockingham and I honestly expected to win Pre 81 Modified Concours as XPT was still in hiding
My car has 2 A4 sheets of modifications - including side and rear lourves
How do you think I felt when I didnt even get placed against a used tampax red Mex and and a babbie sick beige RS2 which between em had only enough modifications to make a Raleigh Burner look good enough to ride on a Sunday afternoon ?
I spent all morning cleaning SKC prior to it being judged and what did I get ?
PHOOK HALL
Did I go home and call the judges tossers winkers and losers ?
NO
I called it to their faces - they know who they are
But I do know who had the biggest smile on their face on the way home in the wet on road legal slicks - ME !
drive it and show it then if need be get the thing touched up again after a couple of years
be a shame to sell it, then there be a change in judges and next year it starts winning without your name on the logbook
agree with the Pop syndrome, use it, show it, get satifaction from it
ps. who's Tony lyn jones, a bloke who GJ met down the pub ?
Gra, Tony Lyn Jones was as i remember a highly regarded member of the AVO OC, of which he and i were members. Graham would certainly remember him. I remember seeing his MK1 Mex at the Bristol CC show 85 maybe 86, it would have made Worthers look very ordinary. I think he was a BA pilot. Died of cancer, couldn,t have been much more than 40. Got pics of him putting the decals on the car in his front garden. You could see the Ford boxes on the grass. From memory i bought them from Withers of Winsford, as they were then, paid £95 as i recall.
I don't think I could handle the threads afterwoods.

Unfortunatley I had to drive across a gravel car park. So got someone to come out with the covered trailer.
Do I...
1.) Remove the gravel from the tyres with tweezers, or will this deform the tread on the CN36's.
2.) Stop driving it & just use it for trailering to shows.
3.) Take the wheels off & leave on axle stands
4.) Sell it.... ?????
Perhaps you wanna go up against an 1800 trailer queen car then ???
I'd do - what ever you want to do with the car,its yours at the end of the day, okay - But just be ready though incase another car comes out and beats you,and you get 2nd place - then its "game on" ,means you just gotta try even harder - thats all us oxford bufty's do.
As you see - we were there in force & 3 cars at Croft - even more next year, with 2 old fool cars from our group !!!!

thanks for the guidance Mark, wasn,t aware of the deformation of tread on Cn,s, is this unique to Cn,s. Do i need to use a plastic sleeved pair of tweezers to stop any additional detoriation of the pattern ??. Like my plastic sleeved long reach socket to protect the wheel nuts 2. can go with that one. 3. Again, great idea on the stands, of course they would have to be isolated with rubber. 4. How many pennies do you have Mark.

Ian be very carefull with old CN36's.
The rubber reacts in different ways according to how the tyres were stored prior to being used.
A chip shop fork would do the trick... plastic or wooden.
I agree with protecting any concours car when mounting on stands or using a jack under one.
Rubber or high density foam will do the job.
As for number 4 see pm. By the way I've got the beige RS ownership T shirt.
