As far as I could make out it was imported in 78 as car was a 73 spec car.
LHD etc.
Will put some pics of car when I had it.
Got a list of some previous owners and went through Donald Heggie's hand as well.
Originaly LHD with centre dash, converted to RHD by someone by using mechano type straps to hold steering column in place.
So I converted it back to LHD.
Took it down to AVO national to get someone to check it out, the year after Dave Watkins finished his lovely REV car.
The people that checked it out said the same T-reg, alloy arches etc.
Don't think they had seen a Gomm shell before.
Anyway it has been restored and i'm happy to see it looking as good as it does now.
Hopefully my 68 twink will look as tidy when finnished.
No Concours every new bolt and nut resto here.
I was 17 years old and didnt have enough money for a genuine RS so i made my own out of a 1.3 base model with a strengthened shell (factory top plates and skid plates). Probably a bit to fast for me back then and this was the result.

Woops ! Least you got out of it and are here to write about it. Capri seats ?
I got my first Mk2 RS2 in August '94 when I was 20, in my eagerness to own one it cost me £1200 and £1250 to insure it, but that was okay as I had just finished my apprenticeship and was on a 'man's' wage. An Orange/BVR black int. Custom V reg, it had a Burton cam 40/41 cam fitted with a DGAS, Janspeed exhaust, I fitted some Koni struts to it as it failed its MOT when I got it.... ! Most of my mates were into Escort RST's and Astra GTE's so they were getting old then. My best mate had a Manta GT/E and the Escort was much faster and better handling, as my mate slid off the road while trying to keep up with my car. It also won a drag race against a new FRST, and had the same legs as a Montego MG Turbo up the Tilbury Dock approach road ....And like lots of RS's it got bloody nicked about 4 months of ownership
My first RS was not an RS but close, it was a MK1 escort Twincam it was a 1971 car and i paid £450.00 for it, where did i go wrong and not keep it, what a fool i was, still am i supose. Laurence
Got my Mk2 RS Mexico in 1979...still got it!!! I couldn't afford a RS2000, very high insurance premiums and costs of purchase price of car (they were still available new then!!!), so got the Mex instead...glad I did!!! I was 23 at the time.
