20 for me,in 1989 bought a lovely 38k mile Mk2 R2000 custom in diamond white and had it 7 years.

One of the other apprentices were giving me stick, "Look what I've bought, for what you paid for that you could have bought one of mine, its got a sunroof, central locking and lecky windows, yours has got **** all!".

He had just bought a rare red 3 year old 1400LX mk4 escort.

His would be worth about £40 now.

16 in 1988 £400 quids worth of shagged Mk2 Mexico bought from a YTS instructor on the scheme I was on at the time for £20 a week , totally rebuilt it for when I was 17, wrote it off 2nd day on the road bought it back from insurance company, that time it lasted 2 weeks bought it back again, it then gave me 5 yrs of "happy" motoring

PKH 830R the guy I sold it too put it straight in his garage and it still sits there too this day but he wont sell it back to me "as he's going to do it one day"

He text me a while back to say he was going to ebay it Glynn, i dont think he did but it does mean he maybe thinking of getting rid.

Anyway my first car at 17 was a 1.6 sport UMC480S,
At 19 i bought my first RS, but it was a S1 RS turbo,
My first RS Cosworth was at 29
and my first RS2000 Pre custom was at 30

then we had rst s2's as daily drivers when the kids came along but they kept getting stolen so we flung the towel in and went for std focus 5 dr Bill

it was whitwood tech college nr castleford. i was there sept 1980 to may 1985. i was an apprentice haevy plant fitter the time..
EUA was supplied by taits in leeds.
im not actually in leeds, but im not far away, abt 20 min,s.
do you remembre cooper,s of oulton? they are still in buisness and i remember driving past their showroom and in the window was a v plate RS2 in red with bvr, it was £4650. to much for me back then in 1981.
29 yr,s later i have a red RS2 with bvr .

i went to whitwood tech 1976 -1978 in 76 i went on a garelli tiger cross then at 17 a kawasaki 400 triple but i was only on day release from pit (kellingley)coopers of oulton was big into rallying up to a few years ago you cant live to far from me i did live in knottingley most of my youthful life moved out near eggborough in 1994

knottingley? ima stones throw away mate . whwen you where at kellingley did you knoe alan markham at all? he had a mk1 mex and a white RS2. he got severly injurered underground and ended up permamantly blind. i worked at speedwell yard at whitwood on the heavy plant for the coal board.
