I started a lot later than any of you, 1st RS is the one i got now, AOO 330 S, bought it for my mid-life crisis/divorce prezzie aged 40 in 2005, had a Mk1 1300 GT rep ASP 514 M at 18 and a mad black 1760 MK2 URC 324 S at 19 swapped that for an SD1 Rover 3.5 then got married/3 kids/nae money etc etc and hit the boring family cars (except for a year with an XR4i and 5 or 6 with an MG Maestro) for next 20 years until divorce.
25 in 1997 when I could get classic insurance looked at a Modena mk1 mex but seller had no book for it , got auto trader every week then scouring classic and american section saw black rs2 for sale ,seen it with local plate to me, bought it and still have it
Wasn't an RS. More like a 1100 cc MK1 with bubble arces. Yellow with Black Bonnet. The decided to make it go faster. Bought a 1800cc full race kent motor from Alex Poole in dublin tested at 165bhp, that cost more than the car. Then had to make it stop. Brake servo! (Still on drum brakes) Had to drive in 3rd (to keep on the cams) Blew up the gear box, fitted 2000E. then when tha was all done, i noticed the front end almost lifed if the ground if i planted it. Hmmm
decided I had done somthing wrong (I had no idea what) decided to sell it an buy an S4 elan.
Gaud... to be that young and dumb!

18 in 1979 MK1 Mex Sebring red UTC175M, it was rotten in places then at 5 years old!
Traded it in 1981 for MK2 Mex WVS998S, sold to mate & it caught on fire & written off.
Now in Oz with Mk1 Mex replica.
30 Years ago was an RS1600 Reg VEV484L was destroyed several years later in a RTA by a mate of mine and shell was crushed and buried in a Farm Yard ,that is where the original one is anyway
It had a miraculous recovery a few years ago aided by a well known MK1 Restorer
