As you can see the floor is very sound hardly even surface rust under there, nice original colour and all it needs is a clean off, the old waxoyl, but should I get it painted or leave well alone ? dont want to make a dogs dinner of it, as I like originality if its there to be kept

only the boot floor has surface rust in small patches as you can see

i'm in the same situation as you Brian (apart from a car in bits)

on one hand i'd like to paint the floor (dove grey) on the other I want to leave it well alone and cover it with wax[/img]

probably should have but then this only started out as a lets clean the engine bay and wheel arches, and now look whats happened.

I shall paint all the axle and bits and think about the floor, for a while !!

as too comments I have had re the over spray on bits a bobs, there was so much waxoyl everywhere the paint has not stuck to anything it all rubs off with a cloth

If it were mine I would sort out the surface rust spots on the boot floor and paint it Dove grey so the underside is nice, then spray it with waxoyl over the top of the Dove grey - you can always wipe the waxoyl off with parafin later - If you stone chip it and paint it body colour (for example) then it's not something that's easily changed at a later date.

Decided after a dicussion that I'm just going to treat the areas and keep the original ppainted parts then waxoyl again, maybe last another 25 years like this TOUCH WOOD

Block now painted and the front pullies will be cleaned up too new feul pump oil filter and clean dizzy with aldon ignitor
