Deffo time consuming mate, but it has to be right for other bits to fit, and yours is deffo making good progress.

thankyou, i'm getting there slowly i think, its a time consuming job cutting out the rot & making up repair sections.

Time consuming it is, but for me each repair you show is still very interesting to see, and so important to getting that great end result that will make all this hard work so worthwhile!

Looking great, nice bit of fab work going on

Bit more done, clamped front panel on to check it fits ok,

clamped the front crossmember in place & a new slam panel support as the original was missing,

Oh, and found this metal plate with a woodgrain finish stuck on the nearside bulkhead/wheelarch with silicone sealer!
Thats a job to sort out another day

OMG what people used to get up to when patching up their cars! Years ago, I was horrified one day when I went over to see my brother who ran a 1963 VW Beetle. He had only filled a hole in the chassis section with concrete, and was very proud that it was such a solid job!

cheers for the replies . Bit more progress made, decided to sort out the area around the heater bubble

quite a bit of rot around here

got the grinder out & cut it all out & back to good steel

decided to do this in a few sections as its an awkward area to repair, some repair sections made up & welded in,

then welded in the lower section & smoothed down the welds,



and a coat of primer to protect it.

also removed the remains of the nearside flitch plate, wing rail & cut off the plate that had been welded over the top mount






more rot to sort out here, thats it for now
