  • Slow progress the last few weeks. Paid work got in the way! Have finished the brake lines now and am well happy with the result.

Engine is ready to go back in and I picked up a bargain Machine Mart -type engine crane on offer at the local supermarket for €99 !

I'm trying to sort out the fuel line run at the moment. I've got a few different good set ups (thanks Joe!) but each one seems to have slightly different pre-formed elbows and bends.

What's in the box? Bought new many years ago - probably mummified dust when I open the box!

This should be B V R all in capitals - but the f**ing editor won't allow this!

        • It's been raining Main-coones and Bouviers the last few days here and garden work has stopped temporarily, so Jaffa has progressed a bit.

Servo tower had to go bufty, but I resisted the temptation to chrome it after sanding it back to metal.

          • Yesterday was the marriage ceremony. Decided to put the half-engine back in and continue the reassembly in the car. I needed the space on the garage floor and, to be honest, I needed a bit of motivation and visible evidence that things were advancing.

The head is getting lead-free seats and a bit of gas-flowing done to it. The bloke rang me up a few days ago that it's ready to pick-up. Just need a trip to Germany now to get it.

Still looking for a 12100-JA stamped dizzie. It's the JA on the end of the number I need. The cylinder head chappie says he's got a box of dizzies I can rummage through but I'm not setting my hopes too high.

If anyone's got one, it doesn't need to be in good nick nor owt - just need the casing with the magic number.

                    Overall planning is:

mechanical and electrical all in and running this summer
exterior paint (interior is done) autumn
                    reassembly interior etc. winter months
on-road, registered and running next spring

Thereafter, it will be seat re-upholstering, 5-speed and the like as individual upgrade projects.

I'd love to think I could go quicker, but I just have too many other things going on as well.

UK is a long way from here, but of course I'd like to bring it across. Shame the real famous old classic event (RSOC National Day) has faded away to the sounds of boom boom boxes.

Cumbria style tour late 2008 would be good. Have got a couple of old flames in the North West who could possibly be tempted!

                            • RS Joe's NOS Servo got a sand back and repaint and is now in. Pedal Box is not in yet, but I can basically put a tick in the box against Brake System now - the first system to be completed

Next will be the Fuel System. After weeks of searching, I finally found my NOS 69 Litre Tank fixing straps. Was beginning to panic but they were safe and sound in a cardboard tube which I'd labelled incorrectly. Whew!
