After 8 ltrs of Nitro mors and about 50hrs of tedious scraping the inside is more or less stripped of paint. Was well worth the effort as all the dodgy areas are now showing themselves, not too bad really just a small amount of rot on each splash panel which I'll repair with a few patches.

As you can see in the first photo the Diff tunnel has been welded to one side and not central, anybody know why!!!!!! is it for a reason or just a crap job. I intend to cut it out and fit a wider tunnel in the center.

Next job is to strip all the underside and see what else I find!!!!!!

coming on well there mate, looks an interesting mod for the big rad...if your rad goes in no bother I may be tempted to just add in some gussets between the bars to add even more strength maybe...Its up to you though, certainly will be a fun machine when your done

                  Thanks guys,

I've finally decided to build it historic spec and as a BDA or BDG is out of the question I'm going for a Pinto. I'll buy a rad for the Pinto motor, fit it and see what looks and performs the best.

This is going to be a Long project!!!!!!!!!!

Kevin Hill, rallied that blue Escort in the 80's with my brother David co-driving, mainly in Wales but you might know it from when I sold it as it's been around for a few years and is now owned but a chap in Crosshands West Wales.

No i recognise it from around this area and probably from Pembrey and Llandow. I live in Caerphilly and I used to own Pacific Rally Engineering back in the 80's early 90's. God luck with your new project.

Doesn't look as though anybody is interested in my build but I'll carry on anyway. LOL

Cut out the horrible firewall and stripped off all the paint and discovered both wells have patches so I'll cut them out and butt weld new patches.

Started on the passenger side splash panel and wing rail, lot of fabrication to do here and a few patch repairs.

Not much more done but I'm going to a Family Wedding next Month in Vegas and making it our 2 week holiday so funds are tight at the moment, but as soon as we get back I'll be able to buy a mig welder, compressor and rollover jig and really get going at it.
