needed to fit some decent seat runners, didnt fancy bolting the sparcos direct to the floor, neither did the "steel tube" option appeal therefore i have decided that some box chasis section would be ok and set about sourcing /fitting and welding into position, after all, its what the standard set up is and it is actually more solid,
Mig welded the box sections to the floor and then offfer the seats up, a good fit, some black paint to blend in and the seat frames are ready to be bolted into position
you will note my welding has not improved !!!
saying that, i had run out of gas.

with the seat runners now in, it was time to start fitting out the car with glass and a few bits and pieces.
one of the problems i have had lately is that of dust getting into the car therefore i was quite keen to get the car glazed and thus dust free, the original laminated screen was broken whilst removing it therefore a new laminated one was sourced (£80.00), although i have since purchased a heated front laminated screen which will eventually find it's way onto the car.
and (as Paul ruddy commented in his skater article recently) what a difference a bit of glazing makes to a car, and with this done i felt as though i had finally turned a corner with the rebuild

the pics do not really do it justice, it does not look as good for some reason, however, a mgood tidy up and clean inside will help considerably as there is a lot of bits n bobs hanging around, offcuts of wire etc, and the whole floor will get a coat of paint before the carpet goes down,
more to follow

some comparisons..................................
This is the heater matrix which was totally riddled with tin worm, looks a bit better now after removal and renewal.
Here's the door minus its trim (well, to be honest, it never had any) therefore some black "kevlar" items were sourced
Well pleased with the Fit and the end result, they took a bit of carefull fettling, particularly as i also wanted to use standard escort door trim, remote mirrors, bezels, and winders etc, therefore a couple of hours well spent, look the dogs danglers fitted

As you can see, dust everywhere, therefore at least i can now clean inside and have things a little less dusty!
I placed the loom into position just so that i could get an idea of layout for things, god, it looks very daunting with all that wiring and now even more untidy inside
however to eventually make it right, youve gotta have a mess, therefore the head scratching began.
whilst i had labelled most things, some, which would be more obvious, did not need labelling, however i still could not match up all the wires on the loom so back to the reference pics for inspiration and ideas, luckily this helped no end (thank goodness for the resto pic's eh )

A few more pics of the car coming together, the wiring is slowly being sorted (Ricky! Help) however getting there
got the fire cable pull and the cut out switch pull cable in place, all little things that add up to a completed job
fitted the Rad with a dry run to check for clearance, although it will be awhile before it iss fitted, filled and tested with water
.............and what a difference some glass makes to the project
