Needed more time to think about the chassis rails, so instead I started on the gearbox tunnel. I use a Gartrac type tunnel up front.. .

      Welded in front.. .

Inside view, my bulkhead repairs are visible...lucky it is inside of the car.. . Will have to do some grinding to make it look nice.. .

The Safety Devices ZF tunnel is different from the Gartrac ones.. .

Therefore I will have to compromise.. .

I will line up the front tunnel bit with the SD removable tunnel. New sideplates will have to be made up at the front to make it look OK. I do this to make the rather battered shell stronger. Using the full length SD tunnel would have made the shell weaker, so instead I add some fresh metal.. .

I´ve welded in some M8 nuts for the detachable gearbox tunnel mounting screws.

The bit I cut off the Safety Devices tunnel will be connected(welded) to the Gartrac tunnel up front.

The bits are held in place with five of these "clips" from Frosts.

Gartrac front tunnel cut in place.

Ready for marking up and cutting.

Cut and welded, with a bit of overlap so I can..

...weld it from both sides. I also need to change more of the metal in the bulkhead/floor. Started cutting and making templates.

Thank you all for positive comments.. ..!!

                  Todays work:

Made up a new bit of wall/floor and welded it in.

Went on with making a new sidewall to the gearbox tunnel and stitched it in.

Then some more welding and smoothing it out.

The other side will receive the same treatment, so I started cutting.. .. .

I´ve managed to track down this period/correct HALDA tripmaster with cable and speedowire connection for 50£ .. . Some extra internal brass gears also came with it.. .

Been out in the garage today, this is what happened.. ..:

Found some rust under the right hand side rear window.

                              Another picture of the damage.

                              Started cutting out the rot.

                              Made up som new metalbits.

                              Then some spotwelding.

                              Continued with continous seamwelding.

Same treatment needed on the inside too.

Repair area grinded and smoothed down for finish. Seems like the shell´s been painted numerous times.. .

Then I added some "waiting primer".. .

                              To be continued..(winter is coming)..!!
