        Gamekeeper turned poacher!

I nearly just fell foul of DVLA, ATR went in May and I put it on SORN, somebody then taxed it, it's been through 3 people since and nobody has told them, I got a tax reminder yesterday and had to phone them and then write to them.

You can appeal DVLA fines, its worth a go Alan.

Even if its tax exempt you still have to tax or sorn it regardless.

Don't understand "nobody told them" - so you didn't send off the bit of the V5 informing DVLA of change of keeper? or that you've sold it to a dealer? Either way they have a record of who has the car after it left your possession!

Maybe I am misunderstanding the rules

You need to declare SORN if you are not going to tax it
My Car was taxed and registerd as taxed with the DVLA

Car has laid up insurance so techncally it is insured

Car was locked up in a garage so why do I need to have road insurance

Can find anything in DVLA rules that tells me I have not complied with the rules

I didn't meet the new owner, the car was left with a third party for the new owner to collect, I completed my part of the V5, left it in the car and the new owner promised to sign his bit and send it to Swansea, it's changed hands twice since then, once through a dealer and nobody bothered to tell DVLA. I'm not having a go at anyone, just a cautionary tale in believing what people promise to do.

Have a look at this Alan

How to appeal a fine you've had from DVLA because your vehicle was not taxed, insured, or you did not tell DVLA you no longer have the vehicle

                                Hi Alan

Taking all the emotion away, if you have "Laid up insurance" then you obviously planned to take the car off the road?, therefore you should have completed a "Statutory Off Road Notice", the DVLA are working to a mandate to challenge any "Taxed" vehicle without The relevant "Road Risk" insurance, why is this a bad thing to do?
