I saw a 190e cosworth go for £292,000 plus anti last week and escorts are ridiculous now.unfortunately i had to sell my RS2000 a few years ago to save my business and mortgage.A lot of the guys on here met me 30 odd years ago and a lot on here have benefited from free spares and help keeping their cars going.I have just turned 51 and for the first time for the past few years I find myself without an escort and it hurts like hell.I would say I am a genuine Rs enthusiast and I simply can't afford one and don't see that changing in the future.i sold my car to a relative who said I could buy it back when I got on my feet,he didn't drive it and sold it for a nice profit,it has since been sold again netting someone £10,000 profit and the new owner bought it to do the same,no interest in the car just pound signs.I know guys now jumping on the band wagon in Glasgow who are suddenly interested in our cars just to make a buck.I have a great collection of 1/43 escorts right enough so that will have to

Unfortunately a lot of money men now involved with the cars.
When nice cars were 3-5k they were truly affordable. Now.................
I, like you Johnny have always had a car. First one was at 17 & 49 now. If I didn't already have one then there would be no way that I could ever afford one.
A lot of the great times we all had over the years have all but gone now which is a huge shame.

If you cant afford a concourse car ( like me ) why not buy something reasonable and build it to some thing you want
The RS letters on the V5 are what you pay for
Build to your own spec and you have what you want,,,who gives a dam if the V5 says 1100 pop
Just off the get my flak jacket now to prepare for the barrage of abuse, sigpic
Back with a MK1

I consider myself as being so lucky to own one as I bought mine in 1991 for £3000, but I certainly would never be able to afford another one now, should I lose the one I have! Bring back the old days when our mates loved and ran these cars and we were all able to afford the prices of parts too!

If only we hadn't raced or rallied Escorts - Think how much more we could have had, and how many you could have had - My Dad had Merc 190E 16V - Some would say Cosworth - It was an auto, great for Mum on the way home from the Golf Club.
Just think we could have put away a new car and never used it !sigpic

I sold an RS a few months ago that I took In Px and it was 90% dealers that were interested!! weren't interested in the car really just the fact that the v5 was right and was back up for sale in 48hrs . I'm going to sell my 2 escorts this year and going to buy something exotic like a lamborgini or ferrari better value for money

The best cars.
The best shows.
The best days of the RSOC.
The best prices.
Above all , the best laughs.
I remember when you and the Scots boys came down to a local RSOC club night in Cumbria about 88. Them were the days mate when we drove the cars and got enjoyment out of them, a show weekend every Sunday throughout Summer and no fear of putting miles on the car.
Today's buyers are motivated by image and profit and are only playing at being Escort enthusiasts until a buyer comes along.
Unfortunately I've been battling cancer since last July and I must admit I'm pleased I no longer have an old car sat in the garage, still keep in touch with the boys and the German 944 trips were the best fun I've had in cars since the mid 80's RS shows.
Anyway son, you'll be getting your bus pass soonsigpic

Try and cure them
It's an idea that our cars only be sold to members / associate members through the official clubs. Trying to vet the genuine buyer/enthusiast to maintain a sensible value before the bubble bursts might be a thought.
Pretty impossible I'm sure but while demand outstrips supply, I suppose the price will still keep going galactic.
Good news for the haves' but not the have nots'.
Steelability will also make owners think twice about taking their precious metal out in public, shame of the highest order!
I wish the none Ford lovers would p--s off and buy a Leyland.
Best Regards

selling cars has become a pain, all I got was people commenting on a car they didn't know, which I do think harmed the sale.
But on the bright side, a few people on here turned out to be good honest people and gave good guidance and advise. Half of them remembered the car from the 80s and the fun and break downs they had. I've been advised to take it to auction if I want to sell it, purely for what it is
