Seem to remember that in the day in the seventies when I worked at repairing fords that the wings from Ford were little better fit than after market ones, ie: neither were very good and needed a bit of fetteling, especially mk1 near side front wings above the headlight as it curved down too far where it met the bonnet and did not match the shape of the grill.

I've fitted a lot of front wings to a lot of Escorts, there are indeed some very dubious genuine panels out there with poor shape and lacking definition in the pressing.
And
I agree totally with Hoonabator, they are only insured lumps of steel, get them properly insured and use them, if the worst happens take your money and buy something else, you'd be surprised what cars a cheeky bid will sometimes buy.sigpic

NOS new old stock to me are panels that were returned to the dealers because the did not fit correct in the first place!

Last year I gave highlandken on here a genuine ford RS2000 wing for £250 and thats what I paid for it no need to make money just helping one of the boys out
I also refused a higher offer for it after the auction ended!!!Ex-Chairman of 'The Clique'

Sad thing Is the prices of spares has turned a lot of people away.. Let's hope they come down to a sensible level and we get some back involvedsigpic

I had the pick of 6 rs2000 mk2s in the weeks autotrader i bought mine from and everyone in the RS owners club looked at me like i was silly when i turned up in it but now they all want them LOL.
