Seem to remember that in the day in the seventies when I worked at repairing fords that the wings from Ford were little better fit than after market ones, ie: neither were very good and needed a bit of fetteling, especially mk1 near side front wings above the headlight as it curved down too far where it met the bonnet and did not match the shape of the grill.

I've fitted a lot of front wings to a lot of Escorts, there are indeed some very dubious genuine panels out there with poor shape and lacking definition in the pressing.

      And

I agree totally with Hoonabator, they are only insured lumps of steel, get them properly insured and use them, if the worst happens take your money and buy something else, you'd be surprised what cars a cheeky bid will sometimes buy.

NOS new old stock to me are panels that were returned to the dealers because the did not fit correct in the first place!

Finally won it for £142 just a sign of the time, what somebody thinks its worth and what you actually get for it are two different things

Last year I gave highlandken on here a genuine ford RS2000 wing for £250 and thats what I paid for it no need to make money just helping one of the boys out
yes stan you are correct. I did just that as it was my perogative to do so. I gambled and took less than what I wanted for it. Good luck to you.

I also refused a higher offer for it after the auction ended!!!

I can think of a few that talked prices up with there "vast knowledge of escorts" only to sting people along the way... Because it was that must have part...

Sad thing Is the prices of spares has turned a lot of people away.. Let's hope they come down to a sensible level and we get some back involved

When i bought my shed back in 1999 it cost me £1800 quid was rust free and pretty straight and standard but thats because they were unwanted and not fashionable like cossys and rs turbos were. I had the pick of 6 rs2000 mk2s in the weeks autotrader i bought mine from and everyone in the RS owners club looked at me like i was silly when i turned up in it but now they all want them LOL.

remember when you bought it as well, also remember the smile on their faces after you took them out and showed them some sideways action in it.
