20 years ago I paid 50 quid for standard wings, 35 is exceedingly cheap for RS wings, even 20 years ago.

In March prices be back to 'normal' - just like convertibles.
        Agreed.
I also think the housing market taking off again has seen people getting back out of Escorts with a bit of bunce in the bin and returning to property speculation.

Around about 1977 std wings were £10 and a Mex wing was £10.50

Don't forget inflation was rampant in the late seveties/early eighties. The Mk2 Mex was launched at under 2,000 pounds, the 1978 (two years later) it caost 3,500. Anyway, RS parts have always carried a premium...

I was thinking the same thing about the property market, (its starting to go silly again around East London/West Essex again), and lots of people have paper profits tied up in classic cars. I wonder if we are about to see a move out of classics into other areas of investment before the bubble bursts. Of course that is assuming there has been a bubble in the first place of course.....

I'll chuck this in the ring too...The thing that changes it for the Escorts is the rally boys, there will be a demand for good 2dr shells and unless someone makes a complete new shell the prices are going to stay pretty high due to supply and demand. The upside of this is road cars get the bits that rally cars do not need.

Its a shame when investment money gets in the way of having a great laugh, driving an unsafe/environmental disaster of a car

I think it is the investors that have killed it all. They are not genuine enthusiasts.

I keep hearing this investor talk.

So anyone point me to an Escort that has been bought my these "investors"

I really can't see the big investor players giving a monkeys about a 15 grand car.

So they got out of property and invested in rusty 30 year old Fords.... I don't think so.

Sorry to rant but the "problem" with the "scene" is people continually bleat on about prices and the past. 'Kin hell they're not even that expensive in the grand scheme of things. Yeah yeah 10/15/20 grand is silly but they're obviously "worth" that as they sell.

Boring boring boring same old rubbish.

Yeah yeah they used to be £6.50 a dozen but times have changed live with it.
                                Getting bored with the idiots
