Unfortunately over here, The thieving of Escorts is rife. In one of the other threads on this subject I hi lighted one that has just turned up from the 80's which has been subjected to a "Book" One of the Nottingham lads (Boldy) had his car stolen a couple of years ago also. These cars will inevitably end up with one of the Books that seem readily available on eBay (& on here as has been openly admitted on this thread )
I suspect the thieves are already among us on this & other forums............................................ .............

Agreed. The people who look to steal cars like this will be all over these sites. There's loads of 'inside info' available from pics of peoples garages, locations etc.
Going away for holidays and other useful stuff.

Yep, In the 80's & 90's the vast majority of stolen cars ended up stripped then the shell buried somewhere. My old 1300 Sport was stolen in 88 then "Appeared" on an RS2000 book. Idiot who rung it left the etched windows in place so was caught.
Nowadays though, these cars are very valuable & sought after. The desirability of an RS car is more so than a Pop so this is probably where most of the books end up on. There are though, stolen cars that receive the books as well. Imports are also subjected to them.
The only way that the selling of books will increase the amount of cars on the road is when they are allocated to "Fresh" imports. These cars should go through the normal import process & registering IMO.
People are just living a lie by doing this with their cars
