Has this venue been suggested to the RSOC Comittee ? They may be able to liaise with Stuart Holmes, the organiser from www.cheshireautopromotions.co.uk to see if they can accomodate something next year ? Food for thought
This has been brought up and requested a few times. 2 reasons seem to be No Track Action on a Sunday and they want a lot more than Donington to hold the show (I think they are part of the same group that owns Brands Hatch, Snetterton & Cadwell Park)Cheers

How many cars went on track this year? Went to national day 1991 to 2001 inclusive and then 2006...the dip from early 90's to now is immense tbh.
If OP is not a fancied venue how about Mallory, smaller more intimate track and midlands area too.....
I ventured to Donny back in May and was less than impressed by the place, OP etc make you feel welcome, got the feel with Donny they wanted to milk your wallet dry!!

nat. day thoughts
ive not been to a national day for a long time, probably 6-8 years, and whilst im mk2 essy through and through I do appreciate all ages of RS marques. The gate price left a very bitter taste, but I think the biggest issue was the lack of atmosphere. I reckon a big part of this is the fact that the majority of cars are on a rough car park and the track 'action' is a good 10 minutes walk away. The track action adds to the atmosphere if the show is within it so you can enjoy the statics, hear smell and see the track stuff with a turn of the head, simple. I mean seriously, who was gonna walk to the infield especially to see parade laps of powerful RS cars on their anniversary running at a pace brad wiggins would p-all over on his pinnarello?? but if the show's within the track people would watch and soak it up as part of the day along side the quick stuff and the displays. Plus the regional groups were even further detatched, putting the humble punter even further away from viewing the track. All contributing to remove any 'club' atmosphere.
Just my opinion, I'd love to support these events, but Id find it tough to justify going to Donny again for next year. Tracks are great, but easy viewing is a must. Oulton? Mallory? anyone. Maybe a hill climb venue like Loton Park, thinking outside the box.
it can be fixed, but it wont improve if it keep's the present format.

I was wandering around Oulton thinking to myself what a great place for National day to be held. I am not up with costings but clearly the show we attended ticket all the boxes apart from no track action on the Sunday. The free entry brought 2000 plus cars and the track monsters had their day on Saturday as well. Perhaps the comittee should revisit this idea to make it work as clearly it can be done. You never know, they may allow you to amalgamate next year as there was plenty of unused space around

Oulton will never happen as The RSOC believe Donington is the "centre" of England and equal travelling for all.
Yet actually Oulton is a far more central venue for the COUNTRY
How strange though that the Oulton Classic Car Show managed to persuade 55 MKI and MKII Escorts owners get out of bed and make the effort to be on a display stand.
Lessons to be learnt by The RSOC methinks
As for the Track this year at Donington a major rethink is also required as very poor attendance even at £180 yet on the Saturday Bookatrack had a SOLD OUT Open Pit Lane event at £300
Will The RSOC listen ? - who knows ?

Easy access for our Irish friends to come over via Holyhead and I would bet there would be a lot more support from the Scottish lads if it was a bit closer.
From the Scottish Border to Oulton Park is 138 miles (2hr 33mins), to Donington is 196 miles (3hr 42mins)
An extra 58 miles and 1hr+ of driving each wayCheers

After going to oulton park and the national day last week i have got to agree with aled that oulton park was a far better show.
Nothing againt the people who organize ND Just felt it was a better atmosphere at oulton park, with the show in the centre of the track.
cant see why ND can't be held there,as martain says it's more central for the irish and scotch lads.sigpic[SIGPIC]
