It's worth upgrading to 16v because 16v engines breath more air at high revs = more power . Hence all the fastest cars will have 16v engines (street , drag strip , rally , circuit racing , trackday homos etc) .
You should try drag racing as it's just timed acceleration so very important even for a trackday car (when off it's trailer , lol) because you are supposed too accelerate between corners as well .
Plenty of so-called fast cars out there but most of them are shite slow when they come up Santa Pod giving it the big one . Just an observation of mine over the years but i'm sure yours won't be .

Very crap observation gaz when you haven't had yours on track because FACT some of the cars that are slower down the qtr than you would kick your arse on track and that isFACT , It's not all about power , more like driver. Car set up , brakes , and overall balance , as I've said loads of times before Andy pipe just as comparison with his baby xflow would FACT kick your butt at most if not all UK circuits and you got more power and torque than his ickle pushrod

Let's also point out that the quickest street legal n/a 4 pot oldskool ford in your list is actually an 8v pinto to date over the qtr mile , yep you got faster terminal speed but they got the quicker time SIMPLES

16v engines of the same size will always make more power than 8v ones . Mine's not been raced (retired) for years and so far the only car that's been quicker is only quicker in the 60 foot and slower everywhere else (as you know) . Not for long though .
As for trackday slow coaches at the drag strip then i've heard all their sob stories before but basically it's just lack of power .

You have been Offered By a few to try your luck out on Track But yes everyone GAZ IS SCARED CANT DO CORNERS so that counts that out , Ive seen John Ht and Jay from Ht and many others take there cars out on the qtr mile to test but would you try yours on track to see if your will compete

As i've said for 6 years = I've not got a trailer or a race car , I'VE GOT A NORMAL COMFY STREET CAR .
All the trailer queens with stripped out cars can all meet up and play on tracks if they like but i like road cars better so that's what i built .
For some reason or another they seem too like comparing theirs too mine so when they come onto the street or drag strip then that's where i'll be . If they still can't keep up there (even with half the car missing) then that's their problem not mine . Understand yet ?

Yep gaz you have a comfy Road Car that runs a 12 sec qtr mile which by any standards is superb , you havent got a track or drag car , but as your car is quicker than most down the qtr you assume yours will be quicker round the track ( your car as is it with no changes ) TRUE or FALSE

I'VE GOT A NORMAL COMFY STREET CAR .

Gaz, the streets are littered with kids, cats, dogs.... Oh & speed limits. They are a means of getting from A to B not driving round at speed or playing Traffic light Grand Prix.

If I want a comfy street car I'll use one of my daily drivers. I've got aircon in there too, should we get any warm weather.
Gaz it's only you I can hear comparing your car to everything else out there, everyone else seems to be using theirs. Or trying to get usefull advice, which is what this thread was originally about..
