Alex sold his rs2k recently thru the rsoc site and didn't put it on here. His choice but what a car people on here have missed the oportunity to buy, was a real nice example.

The only reason people get ****,ed about replies on adverts is because
1, they are telling lies about there car
2, Its stupidly overpriced
3, the car is a shed
other than above why should there be any reason for anyone to say anything negative ( other than the plonkas who say " its to cheap " well if its to cheap buy the ****ing thing and sell it for more )
If the car is as described and is what it is advertised to be and the price is fair then there is no reason it wont sell and wont get negative comments

When i brought LAR i kept quiet, saw the add after a tip from frosty, rang aaron, viewed the car 4 days later and brought it. i was pooing meself all week that someone would beat me to it. The talkers are just that and will most likely never buy. Surely when buying a car the least people that know the better. Other than friendly banter etc as i said earlier the rest of the talk is just pointless.
I do feel that folk that may have seen a car and put positive comments about it can help the sale and so locking threads could hinder a sale from that point of view.Ex-Chairman of 'The Clique'

I have had a look around other websites and the general concensus is that "any" for sale thread that is locked has a cost associated with it - some sites even allow the vendor to lock the thread at the point they post their advert or leave it open.
If a seller advertises on here and is then subsequently unhappy with a specific reply or "banter" posted on their advert then simply click the report Post icon and I will mediate, edit or remove the post as neccasary.
What I do not agree with though is requests from any seller that requires a live thread to be removed (I will gladly lock and it will eventually fall off the page) - if you did not want to offer the item for sale in the first place do not put a for sale advert on the internet !
A seller must be 100% confident in the information they provide regarding the item that they are offering for sale as any discrepencies in such a "product knowledgable" community will soon be found out.
This site only allows a thread or post to be edited within a short period of time of the post being made and no further editing is allowed - I do this to stop a member editing any of their posts at a later date that then distorts the context of posts made after the "edited" post.
Most of the banter on here is between members who ALWAYS have banter between themselves anyway and unless it get personal or threatening etc then no probs (unless either party concerns "reports" the post of course)
So to clarify
To advertise on here is FREE
MUST INCLUDE
A price and where possible contact details and location (but isnt that obvious if you want to attract a buyer )
Only advertise what you intend to sell as no advert should ever need deleting
As for selling via a "locked" advert on the likes of Ebay/Pistonheads etc then you must realise that Ebay and Pistonheads are in the "Public Domain" and as such are "fair game" for people who may wish to link to and discuss "issues" on this and many other forums !
