A bit pointless for the grass roots RSOC member and another created class for specific known cars........

You just made that up yourself

I have never heard anyone else say those things

History of this work is then lost over the years. Car is judged but paintwork is picked up as having been repaired so, loses points. Vendor explains that this is "Original" to the car.............. How is it proved????

                  Can of worms I think.

But if done at the supplying dealers???? (like so many were). Would TBH be a very sad sight to see judges armed with paint gauges.

i like that idea of the concours unrestored class, even though im not in the RS owners club i do have a very original 76 RS2000 44k miles from new but find it never gets a look when parked up along the modified cars, this seems like a good opportunity to get them out of the bubble and back on the scene for all to enjoy
i brought mine to an RS national day in ireland two years ago,got one comment from a lad with a mk1 RS1600 while everyone flocked around the concourse cars he was all over mine and told me it was the most original & honest car he seen on the day....chuffed i was

The problem with a lot of the shows now is that they are struggling to get 1000 people through the gates never mind 5000

Concours is not for everyone but the general public like to see cars prepared to a very high standard and mirrors etc. attract people around these cars.

Yes an unrestored original low mileage car is a rare and beautiful thing, but your 10 year old boy with his dad will more than likely walk straight past to see the gleaming car and hopefully aspire to owning one 'just like it'
                          Cheers

                            To continue my rambling

Show and shine will possibly get more cars out with less stringent judging, but in my opinion all Classic Car Clubs need to get the future owners interested (Children to you and me) so we need more attractions and make the shows entertaining for all the family.

At home I have Daniel (17) no interest in cars except to get from A to B, Carlie (13) and Aliesha (10) will come if there are funfair rides and plenty of ice cream vans plus other things to see rather than just cars lined up or going round a track.

One of the best shows I have attended in recent years was Culzean Castle in West Scotland organised by SOSE as this had plenty to keep the kids happy as it was set in a Stately Home with adventure trail, animals, plenty of food/drink and a wide variety of cars to see.
                            Cheers

i think its down to what people public want to see and are interestedin i went to the avo stanford hall after an hour was bored looking at MK1 escorts

the best show i have been to was thornes park at wakefield hundreds of 60's 70's 80's cars trucks bikes ect you name it it was there stayed till the end but thats me i like anything from that era

from what i see you are relying on people bringing out some very original cars to have them picked at publicly because they arent original enough...

i know for a fact that many concours entrents read the judges comments and make changes where needed for the next event...
other than cleanliness, how can they improve the car by making it more original???

as someone who walked away from the rsoc when it moved national day to AVO hall the other year, this wouldnt intrest me in rejoining/ attending the show

my personal opinion for what its worth

as for the comments made about the commitee, they work very hard and its a thankless task, if you can do it better then put your name forward, i couldnt so i dont!!
