In between the (friendly ) banter what constitutes un restored? For example mine has had a respray in 1985 and will require local paintwork after I've finished: Effectively I'm replacing the wing rail, but refitting the original outer wing and all the other panels, floor etc are original (just covered in underseal, well the floor pan anyway). So I'm doubting if I could truely say mine is unrestored, but interested to hear how it would be viewed.
Probably a non starter though as it's had a sunroof in it since before my parents bought it in 1980, so probably done when new. Apart from the hassle of filling the hole, this would further make it 'restored' (plus I don't mind having the roof open on a sunny day).

Concours has been the downfall of many RS cars no longer being brought to shows as members can't be RS'd with the cost of cheque book rebuilds and the Show Off and Shine mentality
The RSOC has upwards of 4500 members yet way too much emphasis is currently given to Concours when only apprx 20 people can be bothered to compete at regional level
Far better to have a "Bring what Ford RS you got" pre 81, post 81 and Focus have NO judging criteria and let the visiting public (who wish to vote) at each regional day hand in a voting slip and let them decide which they feel (in their eyes) is a car worthy of a £3 placky pot

If it had a repaint then it isnt " unrestored " Having said that you would still be more than welcome to enter but you would lose quite a few points against the origonality due to the repaint / sunroof etc
Mine is waxoiled all underside and under the bonnet but im still going to enter as i arnt arsed if i win or not , I just want to get the car out

Yes, I figured it would work that way. I don't think I could be bothered to scrape off all the underseal just to win a plastic pot though. I was just interested on views as to how mine would stand: I knew the sunroof would get the concours boys muttering anyway. I reckon I'll just give mine the tidying up it needs once the welding is done and most 'men in the street' would consider it 'immaculate' I reckon...Then I'll take on a track day and enjoy some sideways action.

Scenario.......................
A completely "Original" say RS2000 was presented in the class but had panels painted by the supplying dealer due to cosmetic damage received en-route from Germany. History of this work is then lost over the years. Car is judged but paintwork is picked up as having been repaired so, loses points. Vendor explains that this is "Original" to the car.............. How is it proved????
Can of worms I think.

Should be easy to tell if it's original paint or not:
Does it resemble orange peel or braile text, or is it glossy, flat and smooth?
The former is original and the later a respray.
I once resprayed a black XR3i upto the roof pillars and that was picked up by the buyers as they reckoned that part had been resprayed. They said it was too 'lumpy' and couldn't be original 'like the rest of the bodywork which is smooth' so figured it must have been rolled to have needed a roof respray.
