Back to what this thread is about, I'd do a really nice crossflow.
They are a great little engine, and this would be my preference over a pinto.

Don't look for big bhp figures just nice drivable or it's just not fun!

(dipping clutches to get them to rev/ flat spots? Becomes a pain )

The light hearted bannter on here makes me laugh!

looks no bad mate, although 400bhp on greens

You would get a right good n/a car for that kinda money...turbo cossies are mega powerfull but lag aint good...a good n/a engine would whip that on a track imo...plus n/a suits an escort...again imo! (another can o worms no doubt! )

why a crossflow over a pinto are they stronger? no powerful? more reliable?
i must admit there must be a limit to how much power a mk2 can handle and sill be thrown around

Keep an eye out on pistonheads, under Ford classics and in the motorsport section unnder rally cars...

lol no probs, thing is though if you want a tidy grp4 shell mate with all the good bits it will cost you alot more than the £13000 you mentioned...would be worth it though

That one just gives you an idea of what kind of grp4 car you can have with that kind of money and tbh it has alot of good bits. Im sure you will find what your after eventually , just remember every escort is better than money in the bank

i think a 2l pinto is my best bet as the insurance company dont want my pants down with it.
