mitsubishi, isuzu, subaru and ssangyong cover everything bumper to bumper for 3 years, non of this bitting and bobbing son, Ford could do better imo, admittedly they're not the only manufacturer to do this but a warranty should be for min 3 years all covered imo.

dont you think ford do this for a reason? ford do not need to give anymore as they are still leading the car sales market! these companys who offer bigger warrantys need to too try and make there product more appealing! plus they are a poor warranty as the years go by!

yeah they have their reasons don't disagree but if you don't move with the times you risk getting left behind. These days folks are looking for a deal and running costs and warranty will be a big factor in folks decision to buy a certain brand.

Shame that but a blinkered view imo. It would put me off buying a ford and i know my mate with the ranger will not buy another.

i agree, after 3 years its a mechanical breakdown insurance, but the manufacturer 3 year warrantys are spot on

                  But

But if you buy acar with a 5 or 7 year warrenty, they are better made, and you dont have to use the warrenty as nothing goes wrong.
kia Sorento for the last eight years and no warrenty needed, with either of the two of them!

                      Here Here

As a brand Ford has always been my choice, I was lucky enough to be able to afford a new car for the first time ever thanks to my late Dad.
I now have some collateral in a newish car and would be able to trade in every few years.
I like the idea of 3 year hassle free motoring, I want to spend time with the kids, driving my RS and motorbike,my days of fixing cars in the street are hopefully done.
Ford might be a market leader but as chesney points out you have to move with the times or risk loosing out, customers will vote with their feet.

                          Hi Hally

just bought a 2.5 yr old Focus ST3. A couple of times now the ABS & ESP light have come on but they were not on when i managed to take it to Fords. They said they could only look at it when the light is on. Do i hope it comes on again soon so it could be looked at under warranty or hope it stays away.

                          Cheers

                            warranty

Not realy on topic but im in dispute with Ford, my Mk7 transit motorhome lost power on our way back from Scotland six weeks ago bobbed it into the ford dealer for a check and hey presto the turbos goosed, heres the best bit its only got 16k miles on it ive had it from new the service intervals on the 140ps engine is 24 months ive had it done at 12 months intervales just to make sure, now at this point i must say it was 8 months out of warranty at the time which is fine i fully accept that but theres no way a turbo goes at 16k Ford have offered half the price of the turbo and labour so they must think they are liable to some extent but because they get labour at a special rates and i have to pay full price i end up with a bill for £1300 out of a total cost of £1800 not quite 50/50 is it the service manager agrees with me hes been fantastic hes taken it all the way to the top but the men in suits dont seem to agree and wont budge i just want whats fair they pay for parts and i pay for the labour after all if this was a couier or builders van it would have failed within the first year and would have been changed under warranty but because its a leisure vechicle it does not do the mileage so ive got a decision to make pay up or take legle action Gray.

that does sound like the hcu module (hydrulic control unit). take it back to your ford dealer as it will of stored a dtc (fault code) regardless if the light is off now!

its unfortunate thats happened but surely you knew it was a 3yr 100000 mile warranty on a transit.you say they are still willing to assist you with repairs 8 months out of warranty, dont think that is too bad a service.also because fmc are giving you goodwill the dealer still can charge whatever labour rate they want too. it doesnt have to be full retail and can bring the labour down to what there warranty labour is.ask the svs manager to reduce the labour rate as like i said can charge you whatever he wants!!
