Just like the comments and views posted you cant please everyone.
The mags have to cover all spectrums to sell the things.
I currently subscribe to CF but before this post was started I was thinking of cancelling it as I like the standard stuff.
One thing I do think is that they need to reduce the amount of Modded stuff.
Think i will email CF and RF about my standard Concours RS2 thats never seen a trailer or a GAY mirror underneath and done the lakes , lets see if they want to do a feature
Doubt it as its been done to death and therin lies the problem.

I only occasionally buy CF (usually to read on the plane going on holiday) but have stopped buying RF unless there's something I see that looks interesting (Lakes Tour, somebody's car that I know etc) as it seemed to be heading down the.....strip out the interior, pair of bucket seats, Webers and hey presto - a feature car.
CF to me seemed the more "grown up" of the two with more technical articles etc but can't say now as I haven't seen one recently.

Classic Ford spent the last 2 or so years trying to feature "different" cars that were IMO totally shite! But recently they've got back to some nice Escorts and stuff. People complain about there being too many Escorts in it but they are the most popular, what do you expect!
Retro Ford on the other hand gets read from cover to cover about 5 minutes after it arrives in the newsagents here. Classic Ford gets read in the jacks.

Plus the RS issue, again a very nice bunch of MK1 & 2 RS models with a nice clean Black RS2

personally I dont have any interest in drag racing, I prefer to go round bends. Some would say I am already round the bend though. And I for one would prefer a circuit based show. Even a small one, which would lend itself for good spectating.
hear hear
havnt bought it in over 2 years and dont intend to, find a certain other publication more in touch with current trends and wants... plus there willing to travel out of east london for feature cars...
Personnal forum opinion and chats are just that...sigpic

I agree with alot of you guys !!
but i guess there is only a certain amount you can write about standard cars, and its been written already (many times)...
i have a standard rs2000 and would like to see more like mine in both classic and retro ford magazines, but im also very interested in what others are doing and the current modified phases !!
i agree with graham johns remarks about name changes !! its tacky as is the regalia these magazines sell (keep it sideways etc etc)...
dont get me wrong im not ranting either, but feel there is room for afew standard features in all motor based magazines (especially fords)...
i also only buy these magazines now once ive flicked through the pages in wh smiths and find something of interest,at £4.25 a issue its safer that way..

Hi, it's Simon H form Classic Ford mag here.
I can appreciate what many of you are saying and we're always open to suggestions. We do try as best we can do keep an even array of cars in the mag, the monthly 'Heritage' feature always concentrates on a standard and often rare or interesting car.
People can obviously appreciate it's hard to keep everyone happy, there's several conflicting posts above regarding Escorts; Some want more, some want less. And as stated there are a lot of them about and they are popular, so we try and regulate the amount in the mag by mixing them up with other models, unless it's a themed issue like this month. There are always a good flow of other models too.
Modifying is part of the Ford scene, so it's natural for us to put modded cars in. Performance has always been part of the Ford scene, so it's also natural for some of our cars to be performance orientated. Drag racing is a great way of testing your performance and is massive in the scene which is why there is a fair bit in the mag. Classic Ford Show happens at Pod for a number of reasons, laregly size and because of the action is interesting to many.
We still cover techincal or DIY articles on a regular basis that we've had very good feedback about, the Jon Hill repair articles particularly.
Many can appreciate it's hard to put the mag together every month and make it intersting for everyone every month, but we do our best to keep people happy.
Anyway, thanks for your comments and for any other feedback or potential feature cars by all means let me know.

Thanks, Simon
