When my present subscription runs out that's it, no more. Like a lot of people fed up with the type of cars they now feature. All they seem to be interested in is how much power and how fast on a drag strip
Would love to see more standard cars but don't think it's going to happen.sigpic

Im a bit sick of the fact every car they feature is a "stunning rally bred street racer"... serously... every single escort I ever see is a RS2000 or mexico, stripped out and "rally inspired" i doubt 1/4 of them are real RS's and about 1/100 are really rallied or even used atall. Im more interested in subtly modified standard cars, standard cars and rareitys, anyone else?

It seems the same old tat regurgatated, month after month. Much of the Graham Robson archive material remains good and I will base a purchase on good historical content. That said, I haven't bought for a good while as much of the 'meat' in this area has been covered. This months issue looked good as I flicked though via WH Smith's; though a standard Rs2000 feature has been covered many times afore....
It's a good mag, but getting slightly tired to the initiated...

Everyones seen standard shoppers before so no point putting them in a magazine every month is there ? If that's what you like then just buy a Haynes manual and admire the plastic air box and 2 foot ride height in all it's glory !!!!! lolsigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

Maybe the Retro Ford and Classic Ford editors who look on here will read the above and look at changing things
Personally I like to see standard or sympathetically modified Escorts and know what the owners have done and what issues they came across on the restoration/modifications.
Also I want to see original cars that are rarely or never seen so we can appreciate the efforts that the owners have gone to to keep them in their original state.Cheers

Its very common for people to rant and rave about whats wrong and what they dont like on an internet forum. What most people that do this ranting forget is that they are just telling each other and not the people that should be told. The people that matter. Maybe its time for you all to email, call or even write to Classic Ford to express your feelings, you never know they may even respond afterall they are decent people that run the mag. Just ranting on here is not going to change anything. So, below I have put all the details you may need.
Dont get me wrong here, I actually think there is a place for the standard cars in the mag. But how many 11/1300 base Escorts are there still standard? How many standard RS cars and if they were all standard it would become somewhat boring because other than colour they would all be the same articles. I like the street sleeper mods that just look like base models with hidden mods, for me thats the best of both.

It seems to have moved away from 'this is what you can do' 'this is how you do it' 'this is what it will look like' type of articles to 'this is how to go faster down a drag strip' type articles.
You only have to look at where they hold their show to see where they are going with the mag and where their main interest lies.
Now forgive me but I don't ever remember Ford entering drag racing so see no relevance of drag racing to classic fords of today.
They seem to cater more and more for the custom car type of car and owner and not the traditional classic car enthusiast.
At the end of the day the magazine is called Classic Ford Magazine but for me it just doesn't do what it says on the tin.

I agree Phil, maybe not ranting and raving above probably a bit harsh in hindsight. However, my comments about telling the magazine how we feel are very important. If enough contact them Im sure they will address it.
personally I dont have any interest in drag racing, I prefer to go round bends. Some would say I am already round the bend though. And I for one would prefer a circuit based show. Even a small one, which would lend itself for good spectating.

I only buy CF in airports now for sumat to read on the plane
I have stacks of old ones though, and they make me cringe at times.
The 'this is how to do it' articles are serious. The people telling you what to do should be able to assemble things correctly themselves
Something as simple as fitting a set of lowering blocks, and the do-nuts make a monumental RS of it. This example was not alone by any means.
I admit that not everbody knows every thing, but not everybody can put it in a magazine for people who know even less to copy.
Before any body says, 'tell them', it is toooooo late once printed.
