Aled I have seen a few tax free MKII's when servicing on a Rally so they are out there

So to my other question, do the AVO "recognise" such cars ?

By 1979, the car was no longer eligible to compete in International rallies because the homologation had run out. The entire running gear out of SYW 947M was simply transferred to a Mk II shell. The original Mk I dash was also fitted to the Mk2 shell together with all its interior, i.e. seats and rear tool pouch fuel tank etc, etc. It was campaigned in NZ like that until 1988.

yes as rally cars use the public highways,need everything a road car would need to go on the road
