Prices always work like this for most cars but concours examples and rare twin cam models will be higher =

How much is a top notch clean standard 2 door Escort shell worth ? = At present they will fetch £4000 but if it goes down to £1000 then this affects the "complete" car prices the most .

So if it's £4000 for a nice shell then just add all the other parts prices to this and you will get a realistic value for a complete car . Obviously a shell with poor restoration work , shonky panel gaps and rot ain't worth £4000 so you have to be sensible .
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

This is what spoils it for the people with the good cars as people are asking 10k plus for cars that just arnt worth half that

Good cars will always demand good money , its just hard to find the GOOD cars

difficult one gaz, as the price of parts added to the £4000 will spiral out of control.
weve seen restos on the site amounting to £40,000 + yet the cars only sell for £20,000

              Some Very Valid Points !!!!!

              Topaz,

I am looking to buy and have been since last year !
Cash is waiting for the right car which is hard to find
It has to tick all the boxes, I'm not panic buying but will continue to enjoy looking.
I have read some very valid points and have no reason to try and sway valuations either way !

              Thanks for some good feedback

My main point was that there are many people with not so minty mint cars who use them , ( not like sad gits like me who never use theres ) but the problem starts when you see the not so minty mint cars for sale for minty mint prices

People think any old shitter is worth 10k plus

good cars will always do top money but some people need to have a good look at there cars before sticking the for sale A4 paper in the window

                        making good reading this,

just for the record, how i arrive at my price, firstly my cars does not fall into the catagory of old shitter, nor is it a1 or concours, its a good solid car with all the right bits on it, there is in excess of 15k in the car,(5k plus in the motor) ive priced it to sell as i have other plans, i love the car but needs must.

i looked around and a half decent std car with the usual 8 owners, that needs sorting out, welding, new parts or repairs still fetches 8k.

this is not related to any of the above comments, and is not as i feel comment or input is required, just chucking some though into the debate

each to there own i say,if i wanted to build my car std and original, thats how it would of turned out, down to the black wheel nuts, but thats not me... mines a daily driver.

I would rather put an angle grinder thru my car than sell it. Too many people trying to make money out of cars that should be thrashed and enjoyed too many tarts on here, I think.

I meant add the prices of the parts in their secondhand value as if you broke the car for spares . For example if you've spent £5000 on a modified engine build it's then only worth £2500 when you take it out and sell it , £1300 straight cut gearbox is £800 secondhand etc etc .
Most £40,000 restos are either highly modified rally car jobs or standard concours shopping versions with power coated nuts and bolts . The race/rally cars are still worth £40,000 but the standard show ponys are only worth £20,000 .
The moral of the story is = if spending £40,000 then build a proper car !!!!!!!
