This thread certainly is food for thought.
As a few of you know i am currently on the lookout for a mk2 rs. (since putting out my wanted ad i have decided to hold out specifically for a mex)
I have viewed a few cars recently and i have to say the scale of cars for the different amonts of money is baffling.
It is making it difficult for someone like myself (who has not been into the old skool scene for a long amount of time to gauge how much i should be paying for a specific car)
I am trying to avoid ebay specials to be honest as (as someone else put on here) everyone thinks their car is worth a fortune. You read a write up of a car, it sounds bang on for the money, you get there and it is just a let down.
I have found quickly its the enthusiasts (like the majority of people on here) who price their cars realistically.

However, i have also come to realise as the mk2 mex doesnt come up for sale too often (they really seem to be scare at the moment) i will probably pay a higher amount than i should for the right car, purely for the fact that a similar one may not come along for a long long time.
Its not panic buying as such as i've been looking a fair while but in a way its the wrong thing to do.
When i come to sell the car (not that i have any intentions of selling one when i get one) i would probably be looking to get at least my money back on the vehicle, which would mean perhaps asking slightly more than the car may be worth, this in turn is going to push the "value" up.

Its certainly an interesting game trying to obtain one of these cars, certainly keeping me on my toes........ will definately be worth it in the end though
