Trailered cars are only separate at regional days, come national day the are grouped back in with the relevant model driven standard and modified cars.

Hence what at regional days I compete against all other trailered post 81 cars , then come national day, the only car I'm against is my brothers daily drive fiesta that he uses for work

RSOC Concours has become a victim of its own previous success

A few years ago it could have easily been classed as the Blue Riband event for showing a car.

Only Auto Glym could get anywhere near it in the prestige it attracted.

This in my opinion has lead to the reduction of new blood coming in to compete.

It is clear that entrants are beginning to think that if they have no chance of winning then they are not gonna bother even trying.

This is reflected in Hallys reaction to One Day Wonders and others who's "threats" are that if ODW are allowed to play then the 37 cars from 2008 are not coming to play.

Sad it has come to this but I do not see how lasts years ruling encouraged people to bring their cars out - well clearly it didnt !

Who ever has the unfortunate task of becoming Log Book co-ordinator must realise any rules must be aligned to encourage new blood into concours and not be co-ersed by the few who turn up at the Concours meeting and have rules changed to suit their needs in increasing the odds in their favour to win.

I hope it gets sorted but somehow I think the short sightedness of The Pot Hunters will have their way and Concours may as well become an attraction at regional days just behind the portaloos as not much room will be needed for the few cars that do bother to turn up.

As has already been stated National Day will be quite rightly seperate from Log Book Concours and for me National Day Concours may well be the only RSOC Concours to be around in a couple of years time as Log Book will be killed off by the selfishness of Pot Hunters who it appears are running scared of competition.

btw :- Nobody has ever said ODW's are any better prepared but it seems they can instill fear into the minds of some people.

You might not be able to see how, but it did.......

On all 5 occasions this year when I didn't get a first place, I was beaten by 3 different RS's that each attended 2 (and only 2) regional days, all before national day.

Consider also that only one of these cars attended a single regional day in 2007. This year they all put in the extra time and effort to support 2 regional shows, by showing their excellent examples of concours RS's

So yes I would say it has been great to compete against some brilliant cars that if it wasn't for the rule may not have been seen out until national day.


Compare that to after national say - brantingham, paxton & pickering and I was back to being the only one in class

Also chatting with Terry when judging his mk2 at northants, he said the only reason he brought his car out to there and santa-pod was so he could show at national day.

If everyone that shows just at national day took the same approach as Terry did then the rule would have been a success as it would have been a step closer to pleasing all of the people all of the time.

However lots did not, and chose to keep their RS's locked away rather than qualify, or show in "non-logbook" pre and post 81 classes at national day.


So yes, it did encourage people to bring their cars out to regional days again, however it also put people off showing at national day.
